Ernest Urtiaga

Oviedo, Florida

Academy’s 1/25 scale Panther Ausf G (late) invited Ernest to scale up his modeling. He used Aber photoetched metal for screens on the engine deck and to replace molded-plastic tool brackets. Mr. Surfacer 500 textured the gun mantlet. Ernest made track hangers with styrene strip and used thin wires for keepers. The tow cable is made from electrical wire. After cutting a jack block from wood, he made a holder from styrene and brass. He substituted Tamiya’s workable tracks and sprocket for the kit’s rubber-band tracks. Hundreds of small, round stickers helped create a reverse stencil effect to paint the disc camouflage.
