Modeling Tamiya’s 1/35 scale SdKfz 9 FAMO as a Royal Air Force firefighting halftrack, Mark says, “I read about this interesting RAF vehicle in the book Fire Engines in Color, by Arthur Ingram and Denis Bishop (MacMillan, ISBN 978-0-7137-0627-7). The book described an experimental firefighting vehicle using a captured Mercedes-Benz halftrack. However, the watercolor drawing of the halftrack appears to show an early version of a FAMO halftrack. The project was not pursued due to the damage the halftrack did to the runway and airport roads.” Mark built the water tank and equipment based on a drawing in the book; he also added detail parts from Don Mills Hobbies.
