Ron Denning

Kansas City, Missouri

When his local IPMS chapter held a contest to see who could make best use out of a water-damaged batch of wood award plaques, Ron chose to build Revell’s 1/10 scale “Apollo Astronaut on the Moon!” “It was an easy build,” says Ron. He replaced the suit hoses with plastic tubing and gave them small pipe flanges. The lunar module leg and base are covered with gold and silver floral foil. Ron says the caption reads, “Houston … stepping off the LEM now. Forget the cheese, the surface appears to be a substrata of pressed fiber board with a thin surface crust of dark-printed laminate.”
