Greg writes: “Skipjacks are named for the bluefish tuna. They were born from Maryland conservation laws restricting the oyster catch to sailing vessels, a response to the depletion of the Chesapeake Bay shell fishery in the 19th century. The Dumas kit renders a 15-inch-long model with a 4.75-inch beam and 14-inch mast — a nice size for a bookcase display.” The hull, forepeak hatch, deckhouse, cabin, and wheel box are painted with Tamiya colors. Greg drew seams on the muslin sail cloth with a pencil and stiffened it with a coat of clear flat polyurethane.
