Alex Bernardo

Ashburn, Virginia

Alex built this Saab J-21B as a "what-if" situated at the end of the piston-powered aircraft era. He used a Heller 1/72 scale Saab J-21 kit with a vacuum-formed Typhoon/Tempest bubble-top canopy from Ventura. He added recessed panel lines and replaced the kit’s molded exhaust with a spare Hasegawa P-51 exhaust stack. The nose art came from a 1/72 scale A-10 decal sheet. He says that the experimental camouflage was a precursor to splinter camouflage.
