About irishinuk

I am currently forcibly retired due to illness.  So I guess considered disabled now.  I spent the last 30 years of my life in uniform 12 yrs  I spent in the Canadian Forces first in a Infantry Regiment and after an injury I became an Administration Clerk .  Then I spent 18 yrs as a Police Officer I started in Northern Quebec and spent 7 yrs there and then 11 yrs at a University in Southern Ontario.

I have been modeling since I was a kid probably around 6 or 7.  So basicly over 40 yrs now although it has slowed the last few years with my illnesses and having to move because we lost our home to the banks.  I have always modeled what I have found interesting so a pretty wide spectrum there.

I do enjoy 1/35 military subjects from WW2 to Modern and have started collection different versions of vehicles or trying to follow development of certain types.  I enjoy anything the Canadian military has ever used or what I feel they maybe could have or should have used.  I like the large scale helicopters.  Police vehicles, and aircraft that I tend to hang from the ceilings especially in the kids room and my bedroom also has a large variety of aircraft in different scales hanging around.

I have built dioramas in the past and my wife wants me to start building them again so we will see what the future brings.  I have a huge stash thanks to a very supportive and understanding wife.  She encourages me to build and has items like large scale horror figures she likes me to build for her.  I am not a rivet counter and I suppose more of a generalist then a specialist.

I am a full time Dad that enjoys all his family two legged and 4 alike.  I live in the Arctic just above the tree line on the Hudson Bay coast a place where I met my wife and used to police in.  I am dealing with PTSD, Diabetic complications, Seizures from a head injury received while policing.  Everything combined has messed up my life but I have modeling to keep my mind busy and I am thankful for having such a wonderful hobby and I am now introducing it to my sons so we have something else to enjoy together besides computers and movies along with cartoons.

I have learnt to live life to the fullest I can everyday and to let those I love know how I feel and share my feelings.  Because we don't know what is coming at us in life and sometimes we feel we will have time forever to be able to say things.  Our time here can end very suddenly, I was lucky enough to get a second chance and am trying to do the best I can with the time I have.
