About Striker8241

I think I started building plastic model airplanes and combat vehicles before I could walk Big Smile. Later, I got into HO model railroading where I gained  experience in scratchbuilding, and I also built rigged sailing ships. But I had to put it all aside in 1966 when Uncle Sam called.

I joined the Air Force and spent 8 years as an electronics countermeasures technician working on Viet Nam era aircraft, and another 12 working on every type of communications system you can think of. The planes I worked on included the B-52D, F-111, F-4, F-105, A-7, EB-66, EB-57, C-130 Combat Talon and C-123 Duck Hook. I still managed to build a few model planes during those years but we moved around so much, I couldn't keep them. I retired in 1987 as a master sergeant with 20 years service.  For the last 25 years, I've worked in private industry but I've never had the time or space to get back into serious modelling.  I finally really retired last year and have spent an enjoyable year catching up on model building.

It was my great fortune to find this FSM community and discover all the great builds going on, and to gain access to the tremendous store of knowledge and experience available here.
