JLC Razor Saw
Posted by Swanny on Monday, January 1, 2007 8:00 PM
Just last Tuesday I received a JLC Razor Saw from Roll Models and have been playing with it for the last two days. I must say this is probably the most useful new modeling tool I have seen in years. It has such a fine blade (in width) that it is excellent for repairing panel lines destroyed during filling and sanding plus it is easier to use for sawing pieces off parts sprues and pour blocks than the standard Xacto razor saw. I also used it to clear existing panel lines filled with debris and it worked great. If I recall correctly it was around ten or eleven dollars and well worth the expense plus comes with a spare double sided blade.

I bought one, with a couple of spare blades, at a Show last September. It's a very nice razor saw with a very thin & stiff blade.  The blades are somewhat brittle, so handle with care.  If you use the handle, the depth of cut is limited to about 1/4" so it can't be used to remove casting blocks from larger resin parts.  Other than that, it's become my most used Razor Saw.

I just ordered this from Roll Models, and yikes, they say that orders take two to three weeks to be prepared to be shipped!

It sure looks to be worth the wait, however!
