That looks wicked-cool, and I probably missed this, but......what was all that rebar for on this tank? It seems to me that they would act as shot traps? Or was that the whole idea?

Here's 'ya something for this morning..........

  Chickenwire……….. that six sided mesh pattern.....

 Normally you can find about any pattern in a
fabric shop……….
       except this one, or at least I couldn't find it there...
        ........or maybe in a dress shop.

 

 patience has it’s rewards though.

Finally, I came across some in a dollar store during
the last Halloween season.
 They had these voo  doo dolls with the
six sided black and white mesh sewed on for effect.
Luckily this was Just as I was beginning to think
that I would have to sacrifice my idea for this bild
    .......since I couldn't find the exact pattern I wanted.

 

 Here’s a piece of mesh before I went to work on it. Now imagine a 1/35th scale crewmans hand holding that wire.... looks perfect to me.... ain't no chickens gonna infiltrate that.

 

 

on areas other than the barrel you'll have to glue it on with some gel superglue.

Now, remember this?

 

The tape rectangle at the top is the template for the barrel wrap...... no, not a chicken wrap.....
.....and yeah, the bottom one is for the sides and you'll
have to do one (or two pieces, your choice) for the front and also 2 more for the turret sides too.

 

 Pick a paintbrush handle that very closely matches
the barrel’s profile and wrap a piece of masking tape
around it…..  mark it where it contacts itself and then

pull it off the handle and put it on some cardboard (I used the handle 'cause I didn't want to risk jerkin' the primer off my barrel).

 Now, after spray painting the mesh with enamel flat

black (a couple of coats, or as needed). This is required

to give the fabric the resilience needed to be able to cut 
it accurately, otherwise it just fuzzes on the edges.

 place the Well dried mesh on top of that and carefully
press the razor blade down flatly and slide-cut it
  just "barely" a bit bigger than the pattern
  with a NEW + sharp single edge razor blade to get your shape.
 The paint, razor and the cardboard are the key elements to
making a clean cut.
 Don't try to cut it with scissors,

             you'll just get frustrated.

 

       …..should look like this,
        with a bit more trimming on that right top side

 

 Next, wrap it around the same brush handle and
 
sew it at about 4 separate points with
some invisible thread and a (visible) needle.

(i couldn't find my invisible one)

 

 

 Next, you’ll need a VERY fine piece (.003) of
wire (electical cord) to wrap around it.
Wind it two - maybe three times..... no more, doesn't have
to be neat.........
  ....but Fairly tight.
You’ll barely be able to see it anyhow.

 

Slop on some Olive drab, let it dry and carefully
slide it off the brush handle, it should look
like this next pic…… you have to look HARD to barely see
that wire.... it doesn't matter, it should show a bit.

 

 

 Before I can install it and add the final wire wrap
 I’ll have to paint and finish the barrel first.

 Well Scott, 'ya have to be quick to notice da small things in life..... the details....  and that's what modelers do.
 

 Now as far as being in my head, well; that could be a scary place for you. In fact, 32 years ago this past summer I actually had several people in my head......for more than a minute too.

 How 'bout my head and a team of several brain surgeons and understudies in an operating room for about six hours?

 It must'a got pretty crowded in my noggin with all them thumbs, fingers & scalpels whippin' around in there.....

 They were busy a gouging out a tumor the size of a tennis ball.
 

 Apparently it was successful.........       I think.

 Sometimes I think they took out the brain and left the tumor.

 As far as the 1/144th barbed wire goes..........dunno, maybe some of the invisible thread between some posts; you wouldn't see the barbs anyway in that scale.
