CVN 71 USS Roosevelt done
Posted by HeavyArty on Sunday, January 24, 2010 9:43 AM

Hello mariners.  I don't frequently post here, I'm usually over at the Armor forum.  I was asked by a family member to build the Italeri 1/720 USS Roosevelt for him.  This is only (maybe) the 3rd ship I have ever done.  So I gave it a go.  I had no issues with assembly.  Painting the aircraft was fun as well.  I did add a few things, like the supports for the blast deflector behind the launching aircraft.  I also folded the wings on a few aircraft.  Let me know what you think.

Here she is.

Thanks Mike.  It was a fun diversion, but definitely not a new trend.

Very, very nice!

How'd you like it when the plastic and paint were all done and there were still a zillion decals left to go?   Looks like you did a great job on getting all these line decals nice and straight, and the aircraft look like aircraft.  Good job.

You have a steadier hand than I do!  Excellent job though.  I'm sure family will appreciate it.  Keep it up.

Thanks guys.  Yup, all the decals were really fun.  They weren't really that bad though.  They went on pretty easily.

Looks great! I tried my hand at building an aircraft carrier back in the '80s, and..... well..... it didn't go near as well as yours. 'Nuff said about my skills back then. LOL

Great job, Arty, and not just "for an Armor Guy", but a great job for anyone. The Roosevelt is one of my personal favorites as I have spent some time on her in some hostile areas and I am always looking for new depictions of her.  Don't be a stranger in this forum, you do good work.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Thanks for the comments guys.  I did notice there is a 1/350 Nimitz that looks like an awsome model.  I'm just not sure I have 3' of space to put it in.
