Junkyard Diorama Project - 1/24 (Cars, barn, gas station, etc)
Posted by Model Junkyard on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 11:22 AM

Hi everyone!

We are working on a huge Junkyard Diorama Project (1/24), including lots of cars, a barn, a gas station, and lots of other stuff.

We started a website to share our work (pictures, videos, wallpapers, etc) with all junkyard fans and to sell some stuff (tutorials, t-shirts, gifts, etc) to finance this great project. We are afraid we will have to invest lots of time and money in it, but it's a fact. It's going to happen!
We invite you all to visit our Website, you can download some nice Wallpapers for free and see videos and images of some junk model cars.

The pictures you see here are 1/24 model kits built as junk cars. The landscapes are real (holiday pictures). We mounted the car's pictures into landscape's pictures. We love to do that, you get a much better impression of the model car when surrounded by the "real" context.

We are always happy to meet other model car fans to exchange ideas, tips, etc. If you have some questions about our work, just let us know!

Cheers,

Seb & Iggy

This was a real desert picture. The car is a '40 Ford Coupe (1/24)

This picture was taken on my balcony. The trees are just on the other side of the street. I mounted the gras in the front copy-pasting it from other pictures.

What you see here is a scale model of real project I made when I was 15 years old. I cut out the trunk of a junk '57 Fairlane (donor car of my uncle's restoration project) and made a sofa out if it. Many years later, my brother Iggy, made a scale model of that project as a birthday present for me (As I was living 10.000 miles from home I could't take the sofa with me)

A few months ago I began building the barn from scratch. It's not finished yet but it looks great now for this picture. Actually, the sofa is out of place in this scene. It makes no sense. It has only some kind of sentimental value for me.

That looks exelent. Are subscriptions free? If so, I'll subscribe, and continue following the build. If not, then I'll just stay in the background

(I can't afford any more subscriptions. I already subscribe to 5 or so magazines. If I keep them, and get more subscriptions, then I won't be able to build models.)

Thankyou. Yes, I was refering to the newsletter. Yiur work, from what I see on your website, is simply amazing. I would like to get your books on how to build the "junkyard beauties", but money is kind of tight for me right now. I'll try to get something soon.

EDIT: I just got the welcome letter, and it was a good suprize that was included. I'm not going to tell what the suprize was, as I want it to remain that: a suprize. Again, Thank you.

It looks like that truck has been rode too hard and put away in a flooded barn.

Speeking of which, it seems that I am seeing a lot of pictures (of both real and model) wrecked card that look a lot like something I would expect to see in the woods on my cousin's property. It seems like they have a car for everything. (I wouldn't be suprized if they got a truck like this one for mud-boggin. They have a huge mud pit and they run everything through there for a "trial by fire")

Exelent work. I hope to get the Underhaulin book soon, if I don't go crazy and blow my budget at the hobby shop.

@ Railfan: it's funny you have cousins with lots of crazy cars! My brother and I also have a few cousins, owning a farm and having many cars and doing crazy things with them. That's actually where our passion started. We used to visit our family every year and we had lots of fun with all those old cars!

About our ebook, may be you want to check our summer special offer: http://www.modeljunkyard.com/junk_model_car.html

@ TD4438: Thanks!

Here one more picture for you guys!

It's interesting, how people have many cars for what ever they need them for. My cousin is a rancher (mainly with long horn cows) and that's how they got their hands on some of their vehicles (they got an old Chevy dump truck that's about on it's last legs for feed, as well as some old tractors)

I said earlier they have a hige mud hole, and I know they have 5 or 6 trucks lined up for that (can't you tell my family tree is mainly rednecks?) They accually broke this one truck just recently, and the transmission was dropping gears and oil. I hear now they use it to keep the other trucks running (if they havn't already repaired it) and they still have days where they just run the trucks for fun ( they get stuck every time just about)

I can't wait to dee more of your work, and I have high hopes of getting your book soon.
