Ok this is going to be my next Project and what fun it should be. First of all here is the Kit for the Project.....
Here are the Kit Parts in the Box.......
I will be using the Rwo P/E Sets for this Kit from Gold Medal Models. I will be replacing the Turrets with more detailed Resin Ones. All the Barrels will be replaced with machined Brass Barrels also......
And finally this is the Reference Material I will be using.......
Now the fun begins.......Cheers Mark

She's a graceful ship, one of my favorites, look forward to your build
Thanks Tojo. She is also one of my favourites so will enjoy putting her together.....Cheers Mark
OK the Hull is now together. The internal braces work well giving the Hull rigidty but the fit was woeful. Lots of filling and sanding to come.......Cheers Mark
The Main Deck is now on and the Fit is just as bad as the Hull. The Deck comes in Two Parts with an Insert Part for each Half. This is probably done to take into account the differences between the SisterShips that Aoshima have or are going to Kit.. What this means is more seams to fill and sand. Ho Hum....They call this a Hobby....?????.....Cheers Mark
Tojo72 She's a graceful ship,one of my favorites,look forward to your build
Me too. One of my favorite classes of CA's.
I'll be watching with great interest.

Thanks Tiger. The Hull Seam has now been fixed and the Main Deck is now attached. Most of the Deck Seams have now been fixed except fo the Bow Area. Some of the Deck Retaining Strips were lost in the Process but will be replaced with P/E Brass one from one of the GMM Sets. I have placed the Hull next to my HMS Hood for a Size comparison. More to come soon.....Cheers Mark
Your doing a real nice job with this, for the price I thought this could have been a better kit,the instructions were tough, and I know miss had no flag decals,or any decals for the float planes.
I really like the Takao class ships. This kit is on my shelf waiting for me to finish other projects. Therefore, I, too, will be watching your build with great interest!
I am considering getting the Lionroar Takao set for detailing mine.
Bill
Thanks for the comments Bill. I have not been on for a while as I have just come back from an Interstate Holiday. I am back into her now so will post some more Pics shortly.....Cheers Mark
After a little Break, I am back into building Her. The Base Painting of the Hull and Main Deck is now done. Beacause of her construction and Deck Colours, I will be Detail Painting all the Fittings by Hand which will be a lot of fun.More to come soon.....Cheers Mark
I be likin' dis,mon!
Thanks for the comments TD. Long work Hours limit my time at the Bench so apologies for the breaks as I get on here when I can. Deack Detail Painting and Drybrushing has been now bascally done. Have started adding the Brass Retaining Strips for the Deck Lino. A long and tedious task. More to come shortly.....Cheers Mark

Can't wait to see the finished product.
Wow, she's looking great! Those brass deck strips are really going to be attention getters when get her done.

After a bit of burnout and the stress of work forcing me to change Jobs, I am back into her. All the Brass Deck Strips have now been laid so now I can begin the Earnest build of her. More to come shortly.....Cheers Mark
I know how life and work can mess up a build. Hang in there. Good to see you back at the bench.
Thanks for the Pik me UP Tiger. Back into her now. The Stacks have now been done and the Fit was woeful once again. More Putty and Sand....Ho Hum. The only thing that fir well was the P/E from GMM. More to come soon.....Cheers Mark
I decided to replace the Kit Turrets with Resin, Brass and P/E Turrets from Voyager. They make a world of difference being better detailed and crisper. Here they are completed sitting on the Hull. Now to start on the Bridge area. More to come soon.....Cheers mark
The forward Superstructure is now done. Anyone wanting to build this Kit needs a large supply of Putty and Elbowgreae. More to come shortly.....Cheers mark
