ok second installment. this one will be shorter and kind of a mixed bag.

first to hit a couple pearl links that i missed.

http://www.gl.iit.edu/wadc/History/7December1941/ this is a downloadable version of the book 7 december 1941 the air force story. any research on the pearl harbor attack has to include this book.

http://www.aviation-history.com/airmen/pearl.htm this site gives a brief overview of Lt's welch and taylor. it tells of their actions during the attack.

http://www.history.navy.mil/docs/wwii/pearl/CinCPac-A.htm this is a report from the commander in chief pacific fleet on the pearl harbor attack.

http://www.armyairforces.com/dbgroups.asp?Group=39&GroupSubmit=Submit this site gives a brief history of the 18th pursuit group.

http://www.au.af.mil/au/afhra/wwwroot/rso/squadrons_flights_pages/0047fs.html the 47th pursuit squadron site.

http://www.history.navy.mil/index.html any search involving pearl harbor at some time will include the naval history branch.

http://www.vpnavy.org/nasford.html and finally for this segment, the ford island home page. or at least one of them.

again i really hope this helps some of you.

ok i couldnt wait, i have to share some more. i am going to deviate just a little. one of the main a/c involved in the attack was the p-40. two varients were stationed at the fields throughout the islands on dec 7 1941, the b and the c. natural progression takes me to the links for the p-40. so here goes.

first thing to do is to give a link to a research site. this link has been given in the a/c forum and is a good one.

http://users.rcn.com/jeremy.k/serialSearch.html

http://www.aero-web.org/locator/manufact/curtiss/p-40.htm this site is a gateway. it leads to some museums that have varients of the p-40

http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/1999/09/stuff_eng_p40.htm for those who dont know about ipms stockholm i recomend that you save the link in your favorites, this particular link is a modelers guide to the p-40.

http://www.ww2buff.com/photo/americanaircraft.php this site has photos of many types of a/c including the p-40.

http://www.p40warhawk.com/Modern/StevenStohr/P-40B/P-40_1/P-40_1.htm an excellent site with many photos.

http://www.photovault.com/Link/Military/AirForce/Aircraft/P-40Warhawk.html another site with photos

http://danford.net/manual.htm for those who are nuts about the p-40 here is a little something for you. the flight manual.

http://www.warbirdalley.com/p40.htm use this site to gain access to other sites relating to the p-40.

well folks thats all for this session. lets see maybe the b-18 next or how about the f4f. hmmmmmm.............................................i guess wait and see.

Joe, I, like you, am absolutely fascinated by the attack on Pearl Harbor. I have been collecting everybook and picture of the attack that I could find. Thanks for the links as this is making my job a lot easier. I have been making a master list of everything involved with the attack, every ship, every plane and every person. Unfortunately most of my work was wiped out in an accident a few years ago (hot water heater exploded in the room next to the one it was stored in, didn't notice the flooding until it was already to late) But armed with the sites you listed I may try to make another attempt. BTW, I was at Pearl Harbor in 1977. This is one of those places where you can actually feel the history of the place.

ok ready for the next session. todays subject: the b-18. now i searched for about a month for good sites on the b-18 but was unsuccessful for the most part. saying that i will share the ones i have found.

http://webpark.cz/lima/db18.htm first up is a completed build of a b-18. from the 5th bg hickham field.

http://www.wingsontheweb.com/cgi-local/search.cgi now this site is a pay site for prints of different a/c. but they did have a number of shots of the b-18.

http://www.airpirates.com/Hawaii_Pg_2.htm this is a wrecked b-18. the plane is heavily damaged and the pics show that fact, but it also gives a great view of the interior of the plane.

http://www.1000aircraftphotos.com/Contributions/McKillop/1617.htm a great shot of a flying b-18.

http://www.aahs-online.org/BackIssues/Imagev46n1_3.htm a closeup of the nose.

http://www.shanaberger.com/images/B-18.jpg another pic of the b-18.

http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/research/bombers/b2-23.htm most likely the best i have found on the web. gives technical data and some photos.

http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/modern_flight/mf2.htm another tech site with some photos.

now these are not much for interior shots but they give a good overall view of the exterior. i am afraid there is not much out there, at least that i could find.

ok. onward.

i have found many interesting sites and many sites that have great photos. these are the sites that were found in the last six months. i have a number, a rather large number, of favorites saved on another cd.

so the next session. i know lets go to the imperial japanese navy. recently i purchased a kate and wanted to search out some good photo sites. however here are the ones i have found.

http://www.angelfire.com/fm/compass/zz91.htm this one gives a brief description of the a/c and dimentions.

http://www.skynet-1.com/aircraft/b5n2.html you may or may not like this one. it is a site that gives a scale drawing of the kate.

http://www.skynet-1.com/zumen/01.html this site is in japanese i believe, but it does have scale drawings of the japanese a/c.

http://www.marksindex.com/japaneseaviation/kate_1.html another site with drawings.

this session is not as long as the others but the drawings are awesome.

http://www.j-aircraft.com/

http://www.warbirdpix.com/

the last two are familiar and are very good photo sites for japanese a/c.

till the next time.

well then onward. lets see i have done an usaac, japanese, and overall. how about navy a/c.

the main navy fighter a/c in late 1941 was the f4f-3. i plan on doing a multiple of this a/c so i went looking to find as many pics as possible.

http://www.robart.com/retracts/images/F4F-3D-OPT.gif now this is an unusual page it shows a working landing gear in motion. shows exactly how the whole apperatus works.

http://www.robart.com/retracts/images/F4F-3D-OPT.gif a brief history of the f4f.

http://www.angelfire.com/dc/jinxx1/images/F4F_pt2.html this one gives the differences in the variations of the f4f

http://www.acepilots.com/planes/f4f_wildcat.html more technical stuff, drawings, and history.

http://www.angelfire.com/dc/jinxx1/images/F4F.html those who like pics will like this site.

http://www.thefreedomeagle.com/f4fphotos.html you will love this site.

http://www.flightjournal.com/fj/wildcat.asp this is more of a gateway. but can be rather interesting.

http://www.cradleofaviation.org/exhibits/ww2/wildcat/ a very brief technical page.

i will keep this session short. the above links will help anyone with construction of the wildcat.

http://www.pbycia.org/Photos.nsf/MooneyJD/JDMo.0025 this site has a good cutaway version showing much of the framing.

http://gra.midco.net/mlgould/Special%20Mission/PBY-5%20Catalina.JPG an interior shot.

http://www.cs-ent.ca/6051p.jpg another interior shot.

http://www.pbyma.org/vic-seely.html some good exterior shots

http://www.photovault.com/Link/Military/Navy/Aircraft/PBY-5Catalina.html more exterior shots

http://www.aero-web.org/specs/consolid/pby-5.htm some technical stuff.

http://www.pby.com/ pby fans will enjoy this site.

just a few things. not much. but i hope it helps.

ok it has been a few days. i however have another installment. this one was a recent research project.

the os2u the kingfisher. recently lobbie and i have had some discussions of different a/c and this one looked good. i plan to do a series of builds on the navy a/c that are not as much in the forefront of the attack. this one will be represented proudly i hope.

the links:

http://www.air-navy.com/os2u-2.htm a technical site

http://broadcast.illuminatedtech.com/display/story.cfm?bp=101&sid=8018 another tech site but has a couple of very nice exterior shots.

http://www.vought.com/heritage/products/html/os2u-1.html a good all around site.

http://www.photovault.com/Link/Military/Navy/Aircraft/OS2UKingfisher.html good exterior shots.

http://gra.midco.net/mlgould/Special%20Mission/OS2U-2%20Kingfisher%20front%20LH.jpg this is a black and white photo but it shows the front instrument panel.

http://gra.midco.net/mlgould/Special%20Mission/OS2U-3%20Kingfisher%20front%20RH.jpg another of the front.

http://www.nasjax.navy.mil/command%20information/aircraft_1940s_photo_gallery.htm now this one is an inspirational site. many subjects to choose from.

thanks all for bearing with me.
