2/28 UPDATE — For those who cannot log in
Posted by enash on Thursday, December 6, 2018 8:57 AM

Hello everyone!

Thank you again for your ongoing patience — it's easy coming to work and talking to you folks. Over the last few weeks, several updates have been put in place and I've heard from many of you that the registration/log-in issues have been resolved. Terrific!

IF the issue is still affecting you, here's what you should do:

  1. Go to the following link and reset your password. I've had some people say that their problems were solved by "resetting" their password to the same as it was originally, and I've had others say that it only worked after they actually changed it to another password. Try both.
    https://ssl.drgnetwork.com/ecom/kmb/app/live/web_user_maint?pagemode=c&org=KMB
  2. If this trick does not work then please email our customer service liaison Becky James at bjames@kalmbach.com. She is able to do a deep dive into the system to see what the problem may be. This may take some time so don't worry if you don't hear from her right away. When you email her, make the subject "FineScale Modeler Forum", and be sure to include your:
    • Real name
    • Username
    • Email address

I hope this solves the issue for everyone so that you can all enjoy the forums again. Happy modeling!

-Elizabeth

Hello fellow modelers!

So here's what I know: The IT department has made headway on the issue, and from all the emails I've received from users it looks like many of you are able to use the forums once again — that's terrific!

For those of you who are still experiencing problems, I do apologize. As an editor for FSM, I know how helpful these forums are to our users and want them to work smoothly. The truth is, we were simply working with old technology over here and as the company tries to remedy this, we are kicking up some dust and causing these kinds of issues.

The good news is we ARE working toward having a modern system in place for all of you to use — it's just going to take some time. So thank you for your continued patience. I will continue to update this post with any new information I get going forward.

I have received all of your emails and have passed them along to those working on the issue. If you are experiencing an issue that is not forum related (subscriptions, missing issues, etc.) please follow this link which will point you in the right direction regarding your specific issue: http://apps.kalmbach.com/newsletters/services.aspx?a=6

You can also phone customer service at 877-246-4847 or email them at customerservice@FineScaleModeler.info

I know of so many other companies that have had to shut down their forums because they were unpopular and I'm happy to say that the FSM forums do NOT fall into that category — in fact, they only get more popular every year! So thank you for continuing to make this great hobby so fun and collaborative.

Hey everyone! So it looks like many of you were able to successfully log in after deleting cookies or opening Chrome in incognito mode — good!

These are still work-around methods and we should have a permanent solution for you soon, so thanks for your patience as we sort this out. The issue with logging in has to do with Kalmbach Media's transition to another customer service provider ever since our original vendor shut down.

If you still cannot log in, please follow these steps:

  1. Delete all web browser cookies (Google how to do this for your specific browser).
  2. If you use Chrome, try opening it in incognito mode (this is what worked for most).
  3. Try a different browser.

If none of the above work for you then please email me at enash@FineScale.com with the subject "Cannot log in to FineScale Modeler forum". In the body of the email, just give me your:

  • Real name
  • Username
  • Email address

What I'll do is compile a list of names to give to our new customer service providers so they have all the info they need to get everything up and running.

Thank you and happy modeling!
