what's scarier is it's actually organized. most of the BdW vehicles have 1/72 counterparts. guess i best learn how to do a 3 color camo. picked up my russian BMP-T TERMINATOR and a pair of russian 1/72 and won a soviet SPA 122mm in the raffle.

Cliff: Don't you start discriminating me just because I only have 2 Japanese planes in my stash! I actually placed an order for a 3rd one (a Ki-84) at my LHS a while ago, but they still didn't import my stuff from Japan

Greg: Yeah, we have lots of tile roofs here. Believe it or not, it's actually beccause of the cold weather and snow during the winter. Keeps the snow from crushing the roofs if too much gets on there (at least that's what I heard). Not that we have a lot of snow in Vienna...

BTW: Looks like the only Type 89 available from Fine Molds is the 'Girls und Panzer' version. I'm sure you can paint it in real life colours etc and throw the anime decals out but still this version is about twice the price of the real life model. Apparently anime fans have a heck of a lot of money to toss around.

Although I promised my wife I would not purchase any more models, Gamera, you've got me interested in some Japanese armor!  

Wayne: Very cool, if one was the Academy K1A1 you'll love it- beautiful kit.

Bruce: Lol, check out Stikpusher and Rick's Type 97s over on the armour forum to see what you can do with the still fairly cheap old Tamiya kit. The Finemolds stuff is somewhat overpriced IMHO but good quality.

I think the price isn't that high TBH. Those Finemolds kits cost a whole lot more than what the seller asks for here in Austria. I'm no anime fan by far, but that little tank kit inspired me to have a look at the anime it is featured in and I have to confess I really like that one! It's freakin' crazy and really funny at the same time and it has a great soundtrack including "Katyusha" and several marches plus a very good instrumental version of the Panzerlied.

Actually I think the only tanks the Japanese produced in any amounts were the Type 95 light and Type 97 medium and the Type 89 to lesser numbers. Most of the Finemolds stuff is different versions of the 95 and 97 plus a number of 'paper panzers' that were either never produced or experimental designs where only one or two ended up built. I still love the stuff since it's so different from the US, UK, USSR, German stuff you normally see.

You can find the Finemolds stuff on Ebay for good prices sometimes as well as Hobby Link Japan is pretty good. Some people like Sprue Brothers who are normally one of the cheaper places to order though have really high prices on Finemolds- no idea why.

Gamera, you are correct, several of the kits I'm currently looking at are labeled as prototypes or planned production.

I actually never watched any anime series so far, but Girls und Panzer definitely is entertaining. I think they are using dummy rounds too, and maybe some system that makes those white flags pop out if the dummy round hits something important? I noticed one of the rounds that "penetrated" a tank didn't go through the armor but instead got stuck in the plate with half the shell still sticking out. It was during that practice match when the Pz.IV got stuck on the bridge (it got hit by a StuG)

Tempest Johnny, in your 2nd photo, there is a black boxed model in the lower left of the picture (red car).  Can you tell me the name/company of that model?  I think I had one like that as a kid and I'd love to find it again.
