My name is Colin, and I'm from Canada, eh.
I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.
Have fun.
After I got out of the Navy as a Quartermaster (my avatar rating badge) I went to work for the Navy repairing ships. After a little while I went nuclear and concentrated on submarine and carrier reactor maintenance and repair. I retired in 2012 after 40 years of service with the Navy but am keeping my old moniker.
I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
Plasticjunkie cuz I'm addicted to plastic models!
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!

Well, I guess that mine may be one of the not so obvious In my younger years, I was an avid cyclist (still am in mind, but just much less time to actually do it). My wife and I took several self guided cycling trips in Europe and I always aspired to bike the Sella Ring, a 45 mile loop around the Sella Massif located in the Dolomites of Northern Italy. That loop traverses four high mountain passes; Passo Campolongo, Passo Gardena, Passo Sella and Passo Pordoi. With job, kids and life in general, I never did get a chance to do it. My screen name, Pordoi, keeps the dream alive.

For obvious reasons everyone knows Black Sheep 214 is Pappy's squadron during WW2. So my screen name is correct but a little story behind it. Let's go back a bit. YEars ago, I use to play in an online squad of Delta Force 2 PC game called The Halfbreeds. My call sign there is IcemanTHB. After awhile, back then I was having computer problems and a year after son was born. I stepped away from the game and it soon became apparent I didn't return to playing the games. One day, I made an announcement that this "Black Sheep" of THB is coming back soon to a battlefield near you. Sadly, life came first with family priorities. Today, I still haven't made that "big surprising return" to the battlefield but do keep in contact with them on a daily basis in the squad's forums. This black sheep has yet returned to his flock in THB.
Glenn, an interesting topic.
Geezer? Well I was felling particularly old that day. I use LyleW on other forums. Had a CB handle at one time of Fencepost.....no reason, just pulled it out of thin air.

Mediocraties - my favorite Greek model builder.
When I first signed up for the forums I simply was not on top of things as to how & where to create one's screen name. Thus, my first and middle name went in where I was supposed to create something cool. It's all good though as I go by Joe Rix to many of my friends and family.

Glenn :
As you stated some are obvious . I had ,a long time age ,the c.b. "Handle" of "DRAGONMASTER " and I didn't think it fit with shipbuilding so hence ," Tanker - Builder ". I have built many types of ships , But , having commanded Tankers and designed a few , I thought this was more appropriate I guess. " Old Salt " would fit too . Or "Jarhead ", which I get called a lot to my face , The other person smiling of course ! Still a screen name should fit where the person is most comfortable , don't you think ?
Tojo72 is my first and middle name shortened Anthony-Joseph,+ the 72 was my radio call number for many years as a service tech
I have managed to be able to use on the other forums so that I can be more easily recognized, along with the same avatar
I did 20 years in the Air Force working on the greatest plane ever....the F-15! I cut my teeth in Desert Storm with the F-15E model (I was stationed at Seymour Johnson when they sent me), and worked on C's and D's at Bitburg Germany, Eglin AFB, Fl, and was an instructor at Shepard AFB, TX. The 90 was when I went in.

Back in the early '70s, I had an R/C racing sailboat named "Sea Fox". I had painted a fox's head on the mainsail. It's still hanging from the ceiling beams in the basement. As I still like to build ships, I used FOX for my screen name.
Jim
P.S. I also made a sailboat for my first wife to race in the "Powder Puff Races" . It was named "Sea Witch". To justify that, I showed her a pic of the original Sea Witch and told her she was a ship of beauty and speed.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
Tarnship is a combination of two nicknames from the dating site I met SSgt Anne on,,,,,eleven years ago (tenth anniversary as a couple on Val Day 2014)
it is a combination of my original screen name of ShipwriterTN, and the new nick of Tarnished_Armor given to me by a friend.
For some reason my usual RexTN nick wouldn't work the day I first signed up for FSM, so Anne suggested I combine the two dating nicks, since they had brought me good luck before (her opinion, LOL)
So, now I am Tarnship, RexTN or RexInTN everywhere online

Thought it'd be neat to know what's your inspiration behind your screen name? Some seem obvious, others not so much. I happen to be a Tennessee Volunteer living in Ole Miss country, hence the Mississippivol.
