wolfhammer1 I agree, sounds cool. Maybe we could post when we are going to a show or some event so we could meet up. For example, how many of us were at the Butch O'Hare show in November? We could have met for lunch. John

I have met, in person, with a few from here...having your location (or close enough to it) under your avatar helps in that regard...."Hey, you're from XXX, I'm just down the road in YYY"
Also, if there's a show/contest coming up in your area, post it...ask if anybody else will be attending. Even if you don't enter anything...meet, greet, and hit the vendor tables!
Bruce--you hit the nail on the head. Reading the stories is one thing, hearing them in person is another.
You guys have some great ideas. I will have to watch for the shows then.

A few years ago, I started paying attention to the Readers Gallery and checking where the builders of those models lived. I found 3 in the area and looked for them in the phone book and on the internet. We've started an informal club and have been getting together once a month for meetings at each others homes. We also go to MosquitoCon, MarauderCon, PennCon, the Figure show in Valley Forge (you can enter anything) and any others that aren't too far away (over two hours drive). Two of our members went to the IPMS nationals this year and came home with a few awards. Their builds are in the last issue of the IPMS Journal. We're up to 7 members now and having a great time. Still checking out the Readers Gallery just in case.
I usually post when a show is getting close. We started wearing the same shirts or caps and I posted to look for us. When you get to the show and start looking at the entries and talking to the builders, you loose track of time and soon it's award time. I have asked if someone would make an announcement for FSM forum members to meet at a certain place for pics but no one showed up. Make loads of new friends at every show but they don't say if they're members or not.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.
I understand where you are coming from, Bakster, it would be cool to meet the members of this forum! To hear all the stories, instead of reading them, would be awesome. I'm planning on joining my local IPMS, to meet some local modelers in my area. Hoping at least a couple of them are members here on FSM.

Might be difficult for some of us...................I can only think of two others living in the Hive of Scum and Villany that I reside in.
In any case, chewing the fat is officially frowned upon as bad for the environment..
Anyone for BBQ Ewok?
I just have to say that FSM's forums have some of the nicest people that I have come to know. I am truly humbled by everyone's willingness to help, guide, and encourage. It has been a privilege getting to know you.
Wouldn't it be cool to meet each other? Maybe once a week meet for breakfast and just chew the fat? I could see us gathered around a large table in great revelry. I think we'd have a good old time. Well, this isn't reality, but it's a fun thought.
