Saw this article on MSN this morning:

http://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topstories/light-snow-untreated-roads-cause-slick-streets-and-a-traffic-nightmare/ar-BBouHcw?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=iehp

Make sure to watch the video too. Stupid DC drivers.... LOL!!! They'll die in true snowbelt regions like Northern Northeast, (NY, Pennsylvania, Vermont, NH, Maine, etc...), Great Lakes regions, etc...

It just goes to show ya, that there's a huge percentage of the population that is not all that bright...your basic "sheeple"....."but the news said I need to panic and go to the store...NOW". These are the people who skirted natural selection, because of all the things in place to protect them from themselves.

My sis lives in Southern Maryland and they get in a mass hysteria in grocery stores stocking up on: TP, water, bananas, milk, etc... whenever they're calling for 2 inches of snow. I'm like WTF?!?!?! LOL!

Same here. I'm in Northern Maryland. I had to go to Walmart today and you'd have thought a nuclear war had been forecast instead of snow. And the bad thing is that I have to go back there tomorrow because my order won't be in until then. I can't imagine what that's going to be like. Well, yes I can and it ain't pretty.

I hear ya. Here's my take. California has earthquakes & wildfires, high taxes, Mid West , Texas has tornadoes, Florida and the eastern coastlines get hurricanes. Down south high humidity tornadoes, hurricanes. Nope, I'd rather put up with snow in winter. LOL!

Just turned on the TV and caught the weather.  I shouldn't have said "I'll take a little snow".  They're calling for a "Blizzard Alert" with 14" or more with high winds and drifts all day Friday and Saturday. They've already sent out the trucks to clear branches off trees over wires.  Got all the shopping done yesterday and had checked the snowblower and generator.  I'm good to work at the bench until it's over.  Didn't have to buy a new shovel either. Wink

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!  I love it.  It's not like the same thing happens every 12 months.  Why all the hub bub?!  It never ceases to amaze me why people get their panties in a bunch when "Snowzilla" or "Stormageddon" is predicted by the weather weenies.  It's winter!  It's gonna get cold!  It's gonna snow!  There will be ice!  We're not re-inventing the wheel.  Put your snow tires on and stock a few extra provisions in the pantry and the freezer.

Retired and living the dream!

Got to retire at 58 thanks to downsizing and a very nice "Golden Parachute".  I always thought of moving to Florida when I retired until we went down there to visit the in-laws and got caught in a hurricane.  No thanks, I'll take a little snow.

Pffffttttt... we don't get winters in CNY like we used to 30 years ago. Back in my day, we'd get snowdrifts at least 5 - 6 feet high. Nowadays? Nope. Blame it on Global warming.. LOL!

I agree with you BlackSheep, when I was younger and lived is SE Michigan, we used to get lots of snow! I remember it would pile so high against the side of my parents garage that I would dig tunnels through it.

Then I remember entering high school and the superintendent of schools saying there would be no more snow days, and he didn't lie!  Never had a snow day while I was in High School!

Now my kids get off of school when there is a threat of bad weather! lol!

That's what I'm talkin, about.

Once in w hile our school district will call for a snow day on account of bitter cold. I'm like WTF!?!? Seriously? I went to school with below zero temps in my day! Kids nowadays are simply too soft. I told that to my son on more than one occassions too. LOL!

Our home office is in Minnesota and the plant I work at is in Memphis...  I wonder what they think we split over a half inch of snow?!

-course, we don't have snow tires, very few salt trucks/gritters and normally get ice, not snow.

At rush hour you gotta take a number to run into a ditch.

Let me add this too - when we were kids, we played outside until our toes and fingers got numb. Yep - built snow forts, snowball wars, snowmen, making tunnels thru high snowdrifts or snowbanks the plow pushed off the roads on our street, sledding, cross country skiing, shovelling driveways and sidewalks (by hand - not a snowblower!!!)

After a day outside in the snow, my sis and I would come in to warm up, have hot chocolate, get on the bench and build model kits the rest of the day.

Man, I do miss those days of youth.....

Yea, I was lucky enough to retire early ( 20 years ago ) and live the life of the rich and famous. I see you got a year or two before you join the club of us cheese and whiners.

At least some people can stay home and model when it snows, not like us public servants who must report to work in all weather.

Just venting.....Crying
