My dad died today

Terrible news Bill, very sorry to hear it. Condolences to you are your family.

Very sad to read this.  I'm glad to know you have lots of support.  I don't think you can every really be prepared to lose a Dad.

So very sorry for your loss.  I lost my dad almost 14 years ago and even now I am clouding up feeling the loss for you.  I am sure he put the pieces in you to carry on his legacy.  Praying for you and your family.

My wife, Kelly, and I send our heart-felt condolences and prayers to you and your family. Losing a parent is never a good experience, and it's made harder when that loved one has a lingering disease. I lost my mom and dad within 6 months of each other in 2010, and almost lost my wife a month earlier in the same year, and all three of those events just about overwhelmed me to the point of shutting down and retreating from everything and everybody. Almost lost my job as a result. But, I quickly came to the realization that I needed to be where God wanted me, not where I wanted to be. And that realization made a huge impact on my life. I hope and pray that all turns out well for you, as your father is now without blemish, out of his "wordly" body and in his new "heavenly" body. No more pain, sickness, sin, nor evil. Nothing but good and peace for eternity. You shouldrejoice for him, for he is now with our Heavenly Father. God Bless you, GMorrison.

I heard from my oldest sister this morning. Besides her day job, she is  executive at a food bank.

dad was one of those guys who managed to include humor in everything he did, no matter how serious his intentions.

he tried growing some vegetables, and grew a three foot long zucchini. Put it out on the curb with a "free" sign on it.

my sister went over to open the food bank this morning and found a donation- a giant zucchini.

I look at that as a sign the he may be gone, but is still watching over all of you.

When the wife passed on, she had a favorite rose bush and with my black thumb, it apparently died later that fall.  I was going to replace it with another of the same varity, but when I went to plant the new one, it was putting on new growth.  Have not touched it and is doing well.

GM, my condolences on your loss.  I lost my mom to that in 2008.   If it's possible to "hate" a disease this one qualifies.  May you find comfort in memories of the good times.

My grandma died of that. Surely a bad way to go, but better that he did. That's an awful burden on the family as well. ALmost worse for them than the victim---I know. :(

Years ago...before I joined the world of cell phones. I was driving to work and a crow flew past me. It had a white patch on it's left wing. I thought nothing of it. I passed a tree that that same crow was perched on...it flew past me again, not two feet from my truck. I passed it again, perched on another tree limb...it flew passed again...and again...and again. Odd. All day at work, that crow was close by. It didn't "caw" like a crow normally does. I can't make/spell the sound, but it was a very familiar sound. At the end of the day, rather than going home, I went to my parents house...only to find out that my uncle (Dads brother) had passed that morning. The sound that the crow made was the same sound my uncle would make, randomly, when we were kids. My uncle also had a very pale/light birthmark on his left arm. Chills!

I just noticed your post. Sorry brother, my deepest sympathies. We all know the day will come, but it is never easy when it finally does.
