ManCityFan

No big surprises here.  ManCityfan because I am huge fan of Manchester City Football Club.  Might be surprising since I live in the US.  Gave up on American football a few years back, but was loving World Cup, and wanted to see more football (soccer here in the States).  One day, my wife says, "Do we get Fox Soccer Channel?".  Yes indeed, we did.  Now it's NBC Sports Network.

Picked Manchester City as my team because my wife and I have a friend who lives in Manchester, and couldn't root for Man United.  Just couldn't.  Big Smile  Found out there was another team in Manchester, and that became my team.  Had no idea where they were in the standings when I picked them.  That was the 2011-2012 season.  Hurt myself celebrating Sergio Aguero's goal in stoppage time to win the league that season.

Avatar is the Man City jersey patch.

Nooo!  I thought you were a Espanyol Barcelona fan!  lol!  What made you give up NFL Football?  Just curious?  I used to live in Amsterdam the year the Dutch won the World Cup.  Yes, I’m that old.  The city litterally shut down!!!  Who did you think you are, Christiano Ronaldo!  lol!  You’ve got a nice unique avatar and name to live up to!

Your friend, Toshi

P.S.  Please take care, I hope you’re not in pain and enjoy the viewing of the World Cup D Man!

Toshi, i hate to tell you this, maybe the fact you were living in Amsterdam is the reason Wink. They were runners up twice, 74 and 78, but never won it.

You are correct, I was in the Netherlands during the UEFA 1988 when the Dutch won the European Championship.  That’s what was going on.  Forgive my discrepancies.

lol!  lol!  So I’ve read!  1974, 1978 and 2010 World Cups, losing to West Germany, Argentina and Spain respectively.   Oh well!  I know Ruud Gullit was the star in 1988.

My picture is of my family and I.  They are my reason for being; my reason for happiness.  As for my screen name of "echolmberg", the "e" is for my first name of Eric.  The "c" is for my wife's first name of Cherie.  The "holmberg" part is my last name.

Well my nicname is one of the nicnames of East German car Trabant, . I have several old East German cars in my stash. Most of those are Trabants. Germans calls Trabants as "Rennpappe" and finns as "vauhtipahvi" (speed cardboard) because outer shell of the car is basicly made from cardboard. In finnish forums I use "Vauhtipahvi" as my nic.

My avatar is drawn by my friend. It´s cardboard box with wheels in speed.

Thank you for sharing some cultural facts to FSM Members.  I for one would have never guess the fact that your nickname is from Trabant.  I can’t believe that a car shell is made from cardboard?  Well Vauhtipahvi, this is a very cool screen name and your avatar drawn by your friend is exciting.  Thank you for sharing and for your time in doing so!

Nino, from my understanding the Navy was a product of necessity, Continential Marines could not swim and all the ships belonged to the wrong flag. No offense intended for our British brethren.

The US Marine Corps was formed after the US Navy was created.

Well, my name is Gary Duane Mason. I was in the Marines for 11.5 years, hence the "Devil Dawg" nickname, which is a nickname the Marines were given by the German Army in World War 1, also known as the Great War. It's actually spelled "Devil Dog", but that was already taken (although I never see it used on here, for some reason), so I tried "Dawg" instead of "Dog" (I was also living in Georgia at the time.....), and you can probably figure out the rest.

My avatar is a picture of me from 2008 when I went to Okinawa to see my Marine son marry his Okinawan sweetheart. She has taught me quite a bit about Japanese heritage and history, and the language, too. I've also learned what Japanese foods are good to eat, and which ones stare at you while you eat them.

Yep, heard that line many times - "First To Go, Last To Know!"

We were formed back on 10 November 1775, to serve aboard US Navy ships of the line. I think the Navy was formed a month before that, 13 October 1775. So, we're practically twins!

My avatar as you can see is a Tiger tank, I chose that as im a fan of German Armor.  I consider myself to be somewhat an amateur war historian, I cant seem to get enough of it.

My name goes back to my time in the service,  I crewed KC-135 Stratotankers for 6 years and the term Tankereasy started as joke amongst myself and some buddies of mine which eventually just stuck.  I started using it a few years ago as my official online name Bow Down

My name is one that I've used on several forums, most of them automotive-based. We autocross a 3rd Gen Pontiac Firebird that was painted up to look like a crash test car (gray with yellow and black circles, etc.), so we're known as the crash test dummies, since we drive a crash test car. Luckily, we've never crashed it. The avatar is a copy of some nose art from a lakster, a salt flats race car that was built out of an old WWII drop tank. I liked the paint job, so grabbed it to use here. Gene Beaird, Pearland, Texas
