Also in my early 70s with pretty eclectic music tastes, I've recently discovered an Irish group called Dea Matrona that I've been enjoying. The two female leads are in their early 20s and their original drummer was a younger sister who had to stop to do her A levels. Mainly well done covers of classic rock with several of their own compositions.

I personally love that group, Gregorian Chants.  Sure, it is not pure Gregorian chants.  I see it as a mixture o gregorian chants and Riverdance.

I know they have cut CDs, but have not found them online.

Thanks Greg, Bill and Pawel for your input.

I've got time scheduled for the bench tomorrow so I can listen to more of the "Gregorians" music and get a better feel for their type of music. As Johnny 5 used to say "Input", "Input".Wink

I don't like Gregorian - their thing strikes me as fake. I love blues, and Gregorians don't have the blues.

But that's just me - enjoy your music and have a nice day

Good on you, Jim! I haven't listened to Gregorian, but look forward to doing so. Way to keep the old gray matter active.

I heard their covers of "Now We Are Free" from the movie Gladiator and Dire Straits' "Brothers In Arms" -- both two of my favorites, in their original versions -- used in a documentary soundtrack a while back, and was just blown away...which led to a deep dive on Youtube. It's definitely a captivating approach to pop music, and a refreshing change from (most of) what passes for that category these days.

I'm about a decade and a half behind you age-wise, but with similarly eclectic musical tastes.

I should add that...as a big fan of the sort of cover art that used to grace the albums that the late Jim Steinman had anything to do with...most of Gregorians' stuff fits right in with that 'over the top' artistic style.

Rock on! (And stay safe your own self!) YesBeer

I'm an 82 year old senior citizen who usually listens to classical, opera, big bands, some jazz, 50's, 60's, and a smidgen of country music, but I just finished listening to over an hour of what I consider to be fascinating and very enjoyable music. I have never heard, or heard of this group before today and they are not in my usual area of listening.

I know there are some of you here who are talented musicians and others who are not but enjoy various types of music during relaxing moments (when and if you get any and/or while building). I would like to have your opinions of their music. The group is called "Gregorian". I came to a spot of their music while looking for something to listen to while at the bench this afternoon and stayed there.

I would be very interested in hearing what you who have heard them have to say about them.

Stay Safe.
