Has anyone seen or built one of these all metal 4cyl. engines, they are $49 and that seems awful cheap for what you get. i would post a photo but it is a real pain to do it here.

What scale are they?

Posting photos gets to be an easy routine once you do it a few times.  Go down to the Forum Technical Help section- there are a number of older threads on that forum.

I can't say whether I agree that it's a scam, or not, without more info.  For example, who's selling it, eg, website, retailer's name, etc?  It reminds me of kits I've seen from time to time in MicroMark's catalog.  What scale is it, what are its dimensions?  What makes you think it's a scam?

Do you have a link for where you're seeing that listed for $50.00?  I'm thinking somebody got their decimal point in the wrong place when they posted the ad, because I have seen that kit listed for anywhere from $400.00 to $500.00 at other on-line retailers.

I'd still like to have more info.  If this is being sold second-hand, then there are so many factors that can influence the seller's asking price.  You think $50 is too low, and therefore, it's a scam.

Suppose the seller just wants to unload it as quickly as possible.  Maybe he knows this model sells for a higher retail price, so he thinks he'll move it faster and get it out of his house/appartment/stash.

Suppose the seller has no idea what it is?  Maybe he just made a WAG.

But without more information, it's hard to make a good observation.

At that price ($35) I figured I had nothing to lose so I tried ordering the 4 cylinder engine but the site wouldn't take my credit card. I know the card is good and that left me leery of the site so rather than try a different card I deleted the order. I'd be curious if anyone does order one and what they think of it.

I placed an order on facebook for a really cool light saber for my son.  It looked too good to be true like this.  Well made with turned metal parts etc.  When it arrived it was a 50 cent toy.  I sent it to my son anyway lol.  The story was worth the money - we had a good laugh.

It was around $35 and the scam is they follow paypal rules and offer a return.  Problem is return shipping to China is $35...

Google facebook lightsaber scam - couple good videos on it.

Too good to be true usually is.

Thanks,

John

Considering the description of the packaging it supposedly comes in, the packaging alone would cost about what they're selling the whole thing for.  So, an empty metal box is probably what they send you.

OK, thanks, that's a significant piece of info.  Looking at their website, I would be extremely leery of buying anything from them, and so I agree, yes, it's probably too good to be true.

What is in the photo is not what is on that website.

it's a $430 model in all metal. avoid the $40 copy.

what is in the photo is this: https://www.moyustore.com/collections/teching-assembly-model/products/teching-3d-assembly-adult-car-engine-model-toys-mini-inline-4-cylinders-engine-education

Ebaymeet is another one to avoid.  They were selling a tiny excavator that would fit in a pick-up box fot $50.  Yeah right. Turns out it was in 200 order blocks for a chance to buy one.  No idea what the final price was.

I Have seen this kit advivertised on yahoo for quite a few years.  I think this is one of those subscribtion models . they bill you 50 bucks a month and send you parts to complete the kit. A friend of mine once subscribed to  a p-51 subscription model in the end it turned out buetifull but the total cost of the kit was around 600 U.S.But if you think its too good to be true than more than likely its a ripoff we have all been there trust your suspitions and don't buy from dealers that promise the impossible
