Harvs nice leapord shots"conspicuous"now that would make a cool model......
3ggs is making a leapord for the Aussie GB which is the only armour model being done i think....
BTW When did they change the camo,i have a few shots taken in the 80's and they were an overall black green................Jules...................

Jules, I couldn't actualy tell you when the change happened. I'm pretty sure that it was mid - late 90's as I was in Darwin from 1994 onwards and can only remember them in the cam paint job whilst they were on Robertson Bks. I may be wrong though and someone else may be able to put a more correct date on it. The photos were taken in 2000 at High Range Training area north of Townsville.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Ok so here are some leapord shots taken in the early 80s, i have more but my scanner still isn't back yetSad [:(]

you can see the age of the pics by looking at the fatigues the soldiers are wearing................Jules..................

BTW is that a German MG machine gun on the recovery vehicle........

Jules, the MG fitted to the Leopard is the MG3. If you want to have fun with a tankie just ask them about the MG42 mounted to his tank. Smile [:)] I have also started the process to find out when exactlt the Leopard was given a cam paint job. I should have the answer next week if it's still required.

Tweety,
The recovery of the Mack and 8T took about an hour or so. The biggest drama was that the recovery mechanics tried to pull them out with a 5t vehicle recovery chain (twang - duck). After the chain snapped they finally decided to unhitch the trainer and use the tank recovery winch located on the front of the ARVM which is rated to 60t I beleive. Needless to say they were harrassed about it for a long time. Big Smile [:D]

Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]
Can't beleive someone would try that.
8t - 5t = chain everywhere.

Got a friend of mine here who was in the army for 11 years.
I understand the logicTongue [:P]

Jules,

I know you can get a conversion kit from Legends Productions that turns the Tamiya Centurion into an ADF one from the Vietnam era. This is one kit that I have always wanted to do but have never really got round to it, maybe one day .

You can get Legends stuff from Firestorm Models http://members.ozemail.com.au/~firestorm1/

Here are a couple of pics of the kit

The Legends Conversion of the Centurion is NOT the Aussie Mk V but the British Mk V version, the mantel is totaly different on the Aussie Cent's, as for the Vietnam operated Centurions most of them had the front and rear upper track guards rounded off to eliminate foliage from fouling the drive and idler gears, or sreading tracks.

Calling S3053396,

Trev with your Bob Jane Camaro, call Frank Morgan at Vic Hobby Centre [Monday's only], he'll point you in the right direction with what you need to know about the kit and so forth.

Also can you contact me via my website, or in the next few days as I'm moving house on the 1st - 2nd of October.

Regards

Well there you go and it's an expensive conversion set too, thanks Rob.

BTW, you wouldn't happen to work part time at Vic Hobby Centre would you? I get the distinct impression that I have met you there.

Cheers

I made a step into unchartered territory today, I ordered three Biplanes from NKR. A SMER Tiger Moth, Roden SE5A and F2B fighter. I have the Red Roo Tiger Moth decals (excellent by the way) now I just have to find some appropriate AFC markings for the other two. Another interesting challenge will be doing the rigging on them all, especially the F2B.Banged Head [banghead]

Jules, it was a case of $10 for the SMER Tiger moth or $80 for the aeroclub version. After the amount of money I have spent recently on models I thought I might go for the cheaper option to see how it goes. Big Smile [:D]
