But why is this only happening to some people. I am still being kept logged in which is still under my old password. I thought we had to get new ones.

I can log in using my old password, but I still have to keep logging in.  I used to have one of those tiny dumb phones that I carried.  When it gave up the ghost, I told my step son I didn't want any new phone.  My wife has had 2 other new phones and is now on her third.  She has nothing but trouble with them.  She has to keep calling her son or the grandkids to help her out.

After more than a week of not being able to log in, I switched to Firefox and now have no problems like Don said.

Well it also nice to see that the system does not remember our subscription status either when trying to access subscriber only stuff.... So it's either we need to change browsers to one we normally do not use, or deal with these issues on a daily basis...Bang Head

Checking the "Not Connected" thread again I think the common denominator for resolving the issue is browsers. Nothing worked for most until they changed to a different browser. I went from IE to Edge and resolved my problem immediately after a week of frustration with computer reconfiguration, IP pinging, trace routing and customer support. Also I am back on IE now.with no repercussions.

That's why I went back to IE, I think if a temporary change works then you can go back to Chrome. I don't think anybody should have to change browsers to use any site. What do you have to lose?

Yeah seems to be a browser issue. I use Pale Moon at home and Chrome at work and have to relog-on every now and then but otherwise both seem to work fine. Still need to change my password though, so far the old one is still working.

Yea, I don't know about Chrome , but IE has compatibility settings in Internet options that can be manipulated, I deleted Fine Scale that was listed and haven't had to log in over and over. If not listed, try adding it, www.finescale.com.

I just got on without any issue in having to log in again today. Maybe they finally got the  bugs fixed?

It's possible. I had to login this morning at work. I closed the browser, then reopened and did not have to login again. Then rebooted my workstation, opened FSM, and did not have to login again. This hasn't happened since FSM pushed the update last week.

By the way, i'm using IE11 at work. Chrome at home.

Logged in earlier today and didn't have to log in again all day.  Still can't edit my profile though.  I tried twice today with no luck.

I think it was already well established after the August 2015 "upgrade" that IE11 users had to remove finescale.com from the compatibility view list to get basic functions like the formatting menus back.

The current issue doesn't appear to be specifically related to any particular browser. I've tried Edge, Chrome, Chrome on Android & my Android device's native (Samsung) internet browser.

All do the same thing. I can log in to FSM using my existing user name & password, but I can't log in to my user account page (aka Update Account) without it rejecting my current password.

If I then use the "forgot password" request, when I enter & confirm my email address (via which I'm still receiving FSM/Kalmbach mail-outs), it rejects my address as invalid.

I'm sorry mate, I wasn't here for the August re-vamp. All I know is the chronicle of this thread and " Not Connecting " pointed to browser issues. Without any guidance from FS all one can do is thrash around and try what works for others.

At the top right of the screen, there's a thumbnail pic of the current issue. When logged in, immediately to the left of this is a small block which says "Welcome back" followed by your user name.

Below this are two links - "log out" and "Update Account"

"Update Account" is what you would normally select to change your password. Unfortunately, it is likely to reject your current password if you try to log in to this page.

I am able to get into the Updte Account part by useing my account number. But i stil can't find the area to change my password. But i am still confused by this as i thought the whole point of the change was that we had to change our passwords. But i am still getting on with my old one. So what was the point.

I can log into the forums with no problem, I just have to do it every time I switch devices. I can't log into my account for the magazine though. I didn't think it was affecting me since my old password was working, but when I realized I haven't received the newest issue of the magazine I tried to log in and couldn't do it. I guess I'll be calling customer service today.

I've noticed that specially on my phone, I have to constantly log in even though I have checked the "keep me logged" box. It happens on my computer too and I have not changed any of my settings. Sometimes it happens going from one thread to another and it's getting to be annoying.

Might be related to this:

For the record, I've had to log in when returning to the forum, but not while navigating within the forum, and not consistently.  I use Firefox for my general Internet browsing, I currently have v44.0.2 installed.

The problem remained even after I called customer service and my account was updated with a stronger password. It appears the bug was finally fixed.
