I've built this one before and it took two full days to complete. It's a slow patient process to say the least.

I have also dealt the Lone Star Models. I got several items from him, he was slow, but just lost his mom I believe. That was years ago. Not sure about what's up since Covid. Genuinly a good guy, but life and all that stuff, ya know.

Holy Mother of Awesome! That Skycrane is absolutely boss. I have worked with several of these when I was in wildland fire with the U.S. Forest Service. They are amazing. May have to pick one of those up.

John: The Nebelwerfer is way cool.

Brandon: Love the Metal Earth kits. They're spectacular. I've got a couple myself but, have yet to finish one.

In the meantime, I picked up this neat kit.

It's here: https://www.metalearth.com/s-64-skycrane

I've been waiting for Mike at Lonestar to come out with his 1/72 conversion kit for over a year, not sure whats going on there.

Ok, that Skycrane looks dope. I may have to pick up some of the planes and get that also.

Oh wow, amazing stuff guys!!!

Joe: Built that A-10 years ago. It's a fantastic kit! I think I remember a seam on the cockpit glass that needed to be gingerly sanded out and polished but it's a great kit otherwise. Contains enough spues of weapons to outfit a whole friggin' wing of aircraft!

Brandon: Ahhhh love those Metal Earth kits- the dragons are cool as hell but I'd probably have a heart attack trying to assemble them.

Found this 1/32 BF-109 pretty cheap on ebay.

I also got this 1/35 rail car

The BF-109 has been started (engine only) but no big deal, I'm chopping it up to do this (someday)

I hope the scale difference isn't an issue, but if it is I'll see if I can find a 1/35 Border BF-109

Finally, I found this old ESCI nebelwerfer crew for a potential dio with the nebelwerfer I scored earlier

Thanks,

John

John that's a great batch of kits. That will be too cool if you can pull off that diorama!

Another eBay special offer arrived today…

I’ve been wanting one of these since they came out. Much nicer than the old Tamiya or Peerless/Testors/Italeri kits that I built years ago

I added a few items for upcoming dios.

And a few extra figures for my M-ATV. Some Special Forces and a mechanic/welder

Nice haul AM.  I hear the Hustler is a bear to build - but I'm sure you can handle it.  Which do  you build first?

Nice haul AM.  I hear the Hustler is a bear to build - but I'm sure you can handle it.  Which do  you build first?

I'll probably do the Scorpion first since I've never built that type previously.

I've actually built Monogram's big Hustler, the 1999 approximate boxing.  I don't recall having too many issues with it, other than figuring out how to build it with the landing gear retracted (since that one is a hanger in my workshop, and I typically don't hang builds with the gear deployed).  My reasoning for building this second, older example is this - I have a trio of Stan Stokes paintings in one of my bedrooms, above which I have mounted models of the aircraft in the paintings.  One is a F-117 (with a Tamiya 1/48 build), the next is a RAF Mosquito (with Airfix's gigantic 1/24 kit), and the third is the B-58 (with Monogram's ancient 1/121 toy-kit).  I built that kit rather recently.  I noticed a while back that it appeared rather dark, and upon closer inspection, much of the metallic paint has been flaking off.  I am pretty sure I put down a coat of Krylon glossy black, and painted Alclads over it for the metallic appearance.  I've never seen this happen before in any other such build.  So I decided that I "needed" a bigger Hustler to mount over the painting, and voila, here I am.

Nice buys!  I have a newer boxing of the B-58 and unfortunately, I sold my kit of the Scorpion some years ago.  I really regret that decision.  Good luck and enjoy those new kits.

A bit of a haul to start me off for the year. The 72nd aircraft and figures i got at the start of the month. I was waiting for the Accurate Armour kits which i ordered Xmas day but they only turned up today. In the mean time i ordered 2 more which also arrived this week. When asked, these were all from my Xmas money Wink

First, 2 72nd US cats which will both be done in FAA markings.

First, Arma Hobby's very nice looking Wildcat. I know a couple of you have this and it looks amazing.

And Eduards Hellcat. I've built a different boxing of this kit in US markings, was one of the nicest kits i've ever built.

These Accurate Armour kits are my first 35th resin tracked vehciles. And at just over £100, the first one is now the most of i paid for a single kit. The Combat Engineer Vehicle (known as the Frog in the British army) is a great bit of kit, i used to love seeing these in action.

The Spartan is from the same CVR(t) family as the Scorpion and Scimitar. This small AFV is used by MFC's, FOO Parties, Sniper teams as well as command elements.

The 251/9 is my favorite vesion of that family of vehicles (i already have all 3 versions) so i have been drawn to other vehciles mounting the short barreled 7.5cm gun. I already have AFV Club's 233, so i was glad that Dragon re-released their 234/3.

And to top up my 32nd stash, Revell's boxing of Cyber Hobby's Bf 110.

I couldn't believe the size of the box, its bigger than the Ju 88 and the 110 ain't that big. Then i took the lid off and realised that Revell must be taking tip from Amazon on packaging.

Now thats just being silly.

And finally, stand alone figures are quite big in the UK and much of western Europe. I've seen some stunning figures by some of the guys in our model club, one even sculpts them often on a club night. He does these for several companies and they get sent off to be cast and tunred into the figures, he gets sent one of the first produced which he paints and this becomes the box art. Its just amazing watching him turn a lump of clay into a stumming figures over time. But most figures all the guys do seem to be from the 18th/19th century and have lots of small details to paint. I have been put off as these seemed to be jumoing in at the deep end.

In Nov, Ian, the scupture, brought in his latest creation, the Duke of Wellington on horseback. When i was speaking to him, he mentioned the site it was being sold on, Elan 13. When i checked it out, i saw they had a selection of 65mm ECW figures. Not only does this fit in with my new found interest in that conflict, but they are not as intricate and don't have the finer detail and the later figures from the late 18th and 19th century. So i got 2, both cast in resin. The first is one of Ian's creations, a Musketeer, this will go nicely next to my bust. Not sure how i will feeling showing a completed model in front of the person who created it.

The second is from a different sculpter, Mike Blank, one of Cromwell Ironsides.

Mike does a nice looking one of Cromwell that i might get next.

Finally, from Alexandros Models, a 75mm English Longbowman from Agincourt. I thought this might be resin as most figures are now, but its white metal, along with the base, stakes and other parts its damn heavy.

And so much for my intentions to buy less this year. Not off to a good start.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I'm with you Bish.  I exercised a lot of restraint the second half of last year and then 2022 unleashed the buy buy buy.  Nice haul there.  Great box art on all 3 planes... and yes the BF 110 boxing is ridiculous - don't they know stash space is a premium?  The 65mm figures are 1/24th ish?  They look very nice.  I thought the muskets in that era where longer that what he's got.  The longbow guy looks great.

Thanks,

John

Those are nice Bish! Yeah, Arma is really a contender. I'm going to pre order their Mk.III Mustang soon. That's cool that a friend of yours sculpts figures! I'd like to watch that.

Unfortuantly i didn't, i think i added 3 new kits in the last month alone, my stash went up by 6 last year. I really couldn't believe the size of the box and was shocked when i looked inside. I am glkad i built the 262 last year and have the Ju 88 oiut of the stash for building this year. Ye, i think its about 1/24th. I don't know much about the weapons of the period, i've only read one book on the ECW so far. But from what i can tell there doesn't seem to have been a lot of standaisation and the musket's seemed to have come in a range of size. You had the really long ones that needed a rest, but there were smaller ones. The Longbowman is a nice looking figure, going to be quite a bit of work. I've started the museketeer as i want to take him to the club in May when i take teh bust, so not sure when i will get to the bowman.

One of the guys briought in their new Mustang on Tues, boxed, and it looks as good as the F4. Can't wait to see some builds on their kits. It really is amazing to watch especially when you see them evolve over time.

Not a bad start is it. I did build their Snatch Land Rover last year and will be doing the Land Rover Defender for an Iraq war GB next year, but i want to get to the CET as soon as i can. You just have to take more time with resin, especially before committing to glue.

Looking forward to seeing some dioramas from these new additions.

Heres a few I've picked up lately. Definitely going to have to do a diorama for the flak gun.

Teah, I have a Dragon that needs a good dio as well. Probably make a Flak gun near Berlin out of it.
