How to obtain damaged parts from Heller
Posted by Mark Carroll on Sunday, April 1, 2018 6:13 AM

I've tried 3 times to email Heller on their website over a period of three months with no response. I have 2 complete damaged spruce sheets from my Victory ship because of flood. Anyone know how to get a hold of them or am I dreaming thinking I can get replacement parts? I've contacted Revell on several occasions and have always gotten replacement parts from them for free.So I don't get it.

If they are anything like Airfix good luck. They state right on their website that they don't do replacement parts.

Hi . I find this kind of confusing .You are having problems with Heller's Customer service ? Just not so long ago I wrote them a nice letter outlining a problem I had with one of their kits . I told them I had bought it at a Flea market and the decals were ruined . How much would a new set cost if available ?

Surprise , three weeks later they not only sent me a new kit BUT also the extra decals I needed for the first kit . This tells me that the customer service is sketchy at best and maybe in your case not inurred to sending parts damaged by Mother Nature (Kinda like some insurance companies I know ).

I would suggest trying again and making an offer of some remuneration if the parts are available . Maybe then you'll get a response . It's a long-shot , But ?

I know times have changed, but when I bought an F-84 Thunderjet with a short shot canopy, I filled out the "flash service" coupon on the instruction sheet, mailed it in and got a new one in about a month.

I dont think it’s a reasonable expectation that they would replace the parts. It’s not their fault, the kit hasn’t been produced in years, they don’t sell many of this one, and they are an overseas company.

ive got extra parts of the blocks, yards and masts. Mine went through Katrina, but came out ok.

2 complete sprue sheets were ruined in the cleanup of flood. There are 4 sprue sheets with the #15 on them in this kit and I need 2 complete #15 sheets. They have blocks, deadeyes etc on them plus the flag sheet was ruined.I told Heller that I would pay what ever costs were incurred and would do the same with you. Thanks for your response!

Hello, If you can help I would very much appreciate. Building a Burma campaign air collection and have started my oldie Heller Hurrybomber (Hurricane IIc) for the Indian Air Force. I am missing from canopy only. If you have even a used one it will do as I can rubb and buff if necessary. Thank you Nic

This may be a super long shot but, given Heller can’t help, I thought I’d hit up my regular hang-outs!

A friend sent me a Heller 1/50 JetRanger I’m dying to build but a few vital parts are missing: 37, 39, 40, 41 and 42.

If you can help at all - and are happy to donate any of these parts or accept an IOU as I’m not in a position to pay any time soon - please get in touch!

All my best,

Zac in New Zealand

"How to obtain damaged parts from Heller"

Why would you want to obtain damaged parts from them? Big Smile

Sorry, I couldn't resist, and no one else rose to the bait.

Zac,  That Bell Jet Ranger kit is pretty old. You may want to start your own thread over on Aircraft for your request.  Since you posted here, and as I have no update for the OPs Victory, here's my thoughts on Heller...

I usually look around once a week or so for Heller ship kits on eBay, Goodwill, Lots-of-models and Charlies plastic models, and with Google searchs. One of my efforts turned up the kit you need parts for.

https://www.mustang-hobbies.com/product_p/hel-499.htm

Buying another kit may be the only option if you can't scratch-build or find these individul parts.  This vintage kit is listed as 19usd but shipping to NZ may make the cost prohibited, as you mentioned a lack of funds.

Keep in mind that Heller usually produced several "different" kits from the same mold.  Could be your Heller 1/50 Jet Ranger parts are the same parts Heller used on a different-named model. See if you can find what other kits might have the same parts. You might have better luck that way. (Check out the Heller OH-58 Kiowa.  Scalemates seems to "IMPLY" it is very similar with just some parts added..???)

During my time here at FSM, ALL the members have helped out with info, photos, missing parts, and instructions to assist other members accomplish that Impossible Dream. Hope that happens here for you.

Thanks Nino, I appreciate your advice and the time you took to track down the kit. Unfortunately you're right, shipping is $25.95 and to be honest I couldn't even afford to pay if needed for the replacement parts (things are so tight for my wife and I we sold our dining table and chairs to help with bills and groceries). The worst part is that most of the missing pieces are the clear parts so it's hard to even start the build!

Thanks again for your advice, and I'll try reposting elsewhere on the site to see if anyone can help.

PS - the supposed OH-58C kit apparently has no new parts for that variant apart from rear door windows with "frosting" to represent the smaller units used!

All my best,

Zac in New Zealand
