At my age I thought better and cut my stash off......

Seriously, I really need to take the time and inventory all of my unbuilt kits. While I realize there are a some good tools out there manage a kit inventory, I end up using that time I would be inventorying for modeling time.

Over the last three years I've been selling some of them (well over 150) at the annual IPMS contest in Columbus, Ohio; donating around 75 to the active military members overseas who love to model; and giving away nearly 20 to local kids trying to spark the interest in the hobby.

While I realize there are a some good tools out there manage a kit inventory, I end up using that time I would be inventorying for modeling time.

OK, I'll play this game and say my inventory of unbuilt kits is around 100-125. I just ordered three more so I guess it will continue to rise. I've been working at spreadhing out the quantity through all of the normal modeling subject (automotive, aircraft, military/armor, ships, space, sci-fi, and figures).

Since I only get 3-5 done a year I suppose anything left will go to the local club when I leave this earth.

And many, many more....

"Everyones the normal until you get to know them" (Unknown)

Roughly 300 kits, mostly automotive.

But, if I count my ho train stuff ..

600 kits unbuilt.

100 kits built and broken still in their moving boxes. When we moved from Portland Or. 12 years ago, I didn't pay attention to how I packed so they currently rest in pieces.

12 half built kits. I have started trying to get back into the swing of things, but my life is NOT my own at the moment so, there they sit...

I don't know how to count my " spare"  parts pile ....   30 pounds of miscellaneous  pieces ???

EDIT: Time to complete them all .?.?.?

9783 years ... give or take ...

I know the question was about your stash, but I'm really jealous of your display case!  That's a sweet setup... I'm tired of dusting mine.

Custom built by me. Display is 8 feet by about 4 feet high

Ohhhhhhhhh, I don't know. Gave up counting a while back. I think, IIRC (I'm 81), the last count was around 200 and I've won a few more at raffles and bought a few here and there.

I'll build what I can (about 2 to 4 per year) until the Man upstairs calls me to the great workbench in the sky. I'll ask Him how many I can take with me. The rest will go to the members of our club, if they want them. If not, my wife has instructions for their dispersal. All completed WWII models will go to the museum I restore models for. The rest are on the list with the kits.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Yeah...I think I may have a problem.  Tongue Tied

And I have not taken any photos of the aircraft kits in the stash.  Embarrassed  What time is it?  I think it's time to streamline the stash.

Wow, you guys are putting me to shame.  I can't imagine having 100+ unbuilt kits around.  I don't know how fast you guys build them but that would take me a lifetime to put together.  Do you expect you'll build them all, or do you acknowledge that there's more there than you'll ever get through?

No, we don't expect to build them all but you may find a few kits at a vender table that's basicly free so you grab those. A friend may gift you several more kuts. Over the years you find other kits that are in your wishlist. Some like to but several of the same kit to build different variants of something they worked on. I'll never finish what I have but all I have to do is look through my stash of over 300, to find something I want to build next.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Around 200 unbuilt kits, a rather modest stash.

That doesn't include what we toy soldier & figure painters call our grey army.  I have around 300 kit figures and castings that are unpainted/unfinished.  Plus I have a stash of molds, and metal, to cast more.

I may get rid of most of my model kit stash, but I fully intend to paint every single toy soldier in my grey army.

How big is your stash?

A lot of people joke about having mountains of unbuild kits.  I was curious what size the average stash of future builds are for everybody.

For me, I've just recieved two kits in the mail, so I have:

4 unbuilt boxed kits (although one of them I don't really have any interest in building)

1 kit in progress

1 kit complete minus decals that I had to order from Ukraine, which have thankfully just arrived.
