BK's lackluster year in review
Posted by BrandonK on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 8:10 PM

Not as few and Modelcrazy Big Smile, but not as many as I had planned. Big plans next year, hope they work out.

First one done, '29 Ford Highboy for my youngest as he left home this year. MM and 2k.

Secone one done, Tamiya Sea Harrier FRS.1, old kit, not great by Tamiya standards, probably their worst kit ever. Fully rescribed.

Third finished is a '70 Boss 429 Revell kit. This one was a full tear down, paint strip and complete overhaul to bring it up to my current standards. Resin wheels, 2k clear. Very happy with it now.

Forth one is a 1/48 Hasegawa Val D3A1. Great kit. All paint, only the placard on port fuselage is decal, all others painted.

Final completion was Bandai 1/12 Mandolorian. Great kit, fully painted. Next time I'll fill in the joints for a better look.

Modelcraft Cessna 172 Float Plane

All in all, I'm happy with my builds this year, but fell short of my goal by over half. I'll go nuts next year. I have one more that may get done by year end, but we will see.

Thanks for looking.

 I love that Mando

Pushing hard to get two more complete. I have them nearing paint. I will push myself to complete those both. They are both tributes to fallen modelers.

All very nice, Brandon.

I particularly like the '29 Ford. A lot.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words.

I did manage to squeeze out another, it is added to the list above. I am pushing hard to get one more done. It's gonna be close.

Great looking builds BK. Definintely would not call that lack-luster as compared to my two completions!

Also, you may want to re-edit your post.  Appears I noticed another bug in this site. When you edit a post that had special characters in the  Title (like apostrophes), when you save, the code re-encodes your already encoded special characters, so now you have double encoded characters. But when someone views your post , the browser only decodes the double encoded characters once-- so they are now displayed as encoded characters ;-) Geek enough?

Well, at least I understand why that happens. Thanks for the info, repairs done.

Great builds for the year Brandon!  That 29 Ford was a great "going Away" present for your youngest.  You're not the only builder who fell short of their goal this year.  After I retired I made a goal for myself to increase the output of kits and I did okay for the first two years but this year my "Modeling ***" was sapped out of me.  I'm hoping that I get recharged for 2023!  Once again, your completed kits look fantastic!  Happy Holidays!

BK, I really like that Harrier. I have that kit in Tamiya's USMC boxing. I had to put it aside because it was so bad. I think I'll revisit it this year. Your build is proof that it can be built and built well.

The fit is ok, but the detail is just horrible. After fully rescribing it it looks better. But, literally every other kit made is better including the old Monogram kit. And that is saying something. I hope you get it whipped, it feels good to win.

There may not be the most in quantity, but they are the highest in quality!  Well done with them all, BK!
