Mike Walston

Bradenton, Florida

“This is the oddest thing I’ve ever built,” Mike says of Revell’s (approximately 1/350 scale) Sandworm from the 1985 movie “Dune.” The teeth are bits of fishing line, cut up and glued in place. Mike says, “To enhance the maw, I made the opening bigger, then cut orange plastic bags into strips and rolled stretched-out cotton balls inside them. Gluing them to the interior wall of the worm created a ‘gullet.’ Yep — a scratchbuilt gullet. Did I mention this is the oddest thing I’ve ever built?”
