More than 200 years later we can say with authority that “Fulton’s Folly” was no joke. After building Lindberg’s 1/96 scale model of Robert Fulton’s steamboat Clermont, Per writes: “I found this 1/96 scale Lindberg kit in my local hobby store. My only additions were anchor chains (copper aged with Clorox bleach) and tackle for the anchor crane and ship’s boat davits (photo-etch from my spares). Oars for the ship’s boat are aluminum wire, flattened with pliers at one end. I also replaced the kit-supplied clear-plastic cabin windows with strips of clear PET from a berry container, attached inside the walls with white glue. I brush-painted the brown and white plastic with Vallejo and Tamiya acrylics and sealed with Testors Model Master semigloss clear. It was a fun build, and I think it makes a nice display, given the simple kit.”
