Poor uncle Larry... That's a sad story - one of too many stories like this, and worse...

As for the Sioux - from what my little book tells me the S variant differed from the H variant mainly in that they installed the turbocharger on the engine. I'm not sure now but it might be, that they also lenghtened the tail boom slighly to use the power better.

As for the medevac Huey, they were known in Vietnam as Dustoff.

Told me his story .

He and his troop( 8 guys )  were out on patrol . They were walking thru a little water pond . The guy in front of him step on a land mind . That killed his buddy , the pieces from the land mind took his leg off ,The enemy started shooting at them . He took 6 shoots in the back one in the eye . Six guys died that day . He woke up in a military hospital . it took a long time to recover . He became a drunk and dope head for his younger days .Uncle Larry says one day he woke up and gave up drink , then drugs . .

He retired from Whirlpool corp .

Also

The bullets in his back , they on the field fixed  , then  mobile hospital removed the bullets then stapled his wounds . His leg was removed and his eye .

But there is a million story's out there . He has a lot awards thru the army  for the damage to his body .

I just found this .

In Vietnam, the H-13 was used for reconnaissance, despite there being more H-19s and H-23s in country.  The 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry was the scout unit of the 1st Cavalry.  They used the Bell OH-13S armed with 8 skid-mounted rockets and two machine guns.  

I guess , I need to change the title to h=13h  Gunship build

Unfortunately, Revell got it wrong. The OH-13H was not used as an air ambululance for MASH units in Vietnam.  The OH-13H was used early in the war as an early gunship prototype, as depicted in your kit, and later as an unarmed scout / observation helicopter (OH).  The earlier H-13D as kitted by MRC/Academy was used as a MASH air ambulace in the Korean war.  By Vietnam, Hueys were used as DUSTOFF aircraft (air ambulances). 

 I would build it as the armed gunship.

Interesting look kit. Is that warped piece one part, or is that after assembly. My initial suggestion would be warm water to soften the plastic. But I would hang on to see if someone has a better idea.
