Wow.  Built a couple of those.  Robbed some tires off die-cast tractors and pointed the blower scoop in the correct direction.

Wow! You're getting some amazing help here Bakster! I'm almost tempted to start my own steampunk vehicle- but I really need to finish up my cyberpunk android for Steve/ModelCrazy... And then a post Global Sharknado survivor vehicle...

I noticed this kit in Rocketfins new releases. This is the kit my brother wants, which lead me to my journey into the Boothill Mountains.

Aside from all my yammer, work continues on the roof. I hope to get color on the powerplant this weekend. My job gets in the way of my fun.

Btw Capn. Your winter weather months back continues to make my job miserable. But I can't put all the blame on that event. Apparently, months back, a resin plant in Florida was struck by lightning igniting a fire. It knocked that one out of commision as well. What are the odds.

Hi;

     Some years back, I did an airship in steam punk for a friend. Funniest thing I ever saw. I used the steam engine parts from the Rocket Train engine and then did the Airbag from a mold I made over one of those long balloons half inflated. Then, burst the balloon and poured resin in it and let it set, Broke the mold and Viol'a a Steam punk airship.You should seen the props. Plastic Daisy petals!

That is funny Tim because I hadn't noticed it in the box when I took the image. Just after,  I looked again, and thought I better double check what is stuck in the bottom. It was sort of stuck in there and I at first thought it was a piece of shipping tape. I was amazed when I realized what it was and relieved I didn't throw it out.

Watch/clock gears might be an alternative for spoked iron, couple glued together for thickness.

 

Interesting thought. Thatd be steampunk for sure. I will explore that idea too. Would need to be large enough diameter.

For wood spoke wheels, might take a look at some of the wooden toy parts suppliers.

I kind of migrated to iron wheels. Instead of rubber tires I will clad them with iron and spikes for traction.

GH-- taking your jewelry cap idea--here is something interesting.  10 pieces for $7.95. The price is right and with some mods, it could be cool. Diameter is a little less than 1/2 inch, or 12 mm. Would need to check how that would fit my project but I like this. It even has the look of rivets. 

HL might not carry them.  If you have a rock shop in the area they might or would know where to go.  I remember that most were kind of a filigree style in several sizes.

Anyway, there is a package on it's way to you. Mr Haney threw in some extra parts he had.

Package is received and Haney included some cool stuff. I can definitely see items I will use. Tell Haney he does not have to return the WPA shovel.

Next time in HL, look at the jewelry finding area.  There are several types of caps that are glued to gemstones to make necklaces and earrings.  

 

I did look there. I garnered all the odd looks from women. LOL. I even checked the baking section. I went through every isle. So anyway--I might have missed it. My eyes are not what they used to be. Maybe I need to look again.

There's that pernicious allegations bout great minds . . . But, Many are the Ways of the Force. <insert Jedi thing here "You will not remember the Plumbing truck over at Mrs O'Flareaghty's across the street for the last week or two . . .">

Saw some really cool "flickering" LED in a video on a build of a Colonial Viper recently, and this kit has a couple of acres of clear parts.

And it wants a certain Nemo-esque Steampunk.

So, tinting the clear parts was a logical step.

That, or stepping up to the iridescent film that has become popular among Armor modelers for modern optics.  (Some of that is opaque, though; and spendy.)

Yesterday, I went to HL in search of ornament tops. No luck, out of season. I was not able find anything else that would remotely help with the stack.

I watched a weird black comedy the other night. Kinda reminded me a little of 'Motel Hell'. The Korean film 'The Quiet Family' about a family that buy a bed & breakfast and no one comes to stay. Finally a guy shows up and they shower him with attention. In the morning he doesn't answer the door so they use the master key and find him lying in the bed dead. Seems he wanted an out of the way place to commit suicide. 

Not wanting to get a reputation as the suicide inn they bury the body in the woods and cover the whole thing up. As the weeks go on they have to dig up and rebury the body to keep the cops and a local construction crew from coming across it. And then more people start kicking off. Soon they're burying people all over. It's a little morbid but funny as hell.

It's time for a story.

At about the 3/4 point of the previous Century your correspondent was a resident of the fair country of Denmark, they of conservative social norms and no laws to speak of governing what you might choose to watch on film or live in a theatre. But I digress.

The fine capital city in which said occasional rowdy matriculated had two major breweries; Carlsberg and Tuborg.

Having the costumes on hand to be able to pass as a stupid American tourist, Friday nights generally kicked off with a brewery tour. Whether the several guides recognized us or not, they never let on.

Said tour of course ended in a large beer hall, er, tasting room where the hosts had thoughtfully put out little national flags of the guests.

Those islamic country flags were zeroed in on, where our heroes very thoughtfully traded the soft drinks given them as a share of the whole for the more tasty beverages that the Prophet might frown upon.

OH, a note on Sprue Goo! I keep at least eight bottles of it. In the basic colors.

Wow! You are way ahead of me on this. It's a good idea what you are doing because sometimes the color disparity can show through paint. I should do the same. I would just need to get some small jars. Maybe use Tamiya paint jars. What are you using?

I do put down a layer of Tamiya orange Before I apply it though. This prevents ( Splinter Out) along the edges when sanding the edges. They blend perfectly.

That is a good tip. I can't say that I have run into the splintering issue but this is really good to know if I do.

Every so often Put a drop of glue in there to keep it from getting to thick and make double sure the top is on as tight as you can get it.

Yup, I do the same. Usually though, I let it go too long and it's more than a drop that I add. No matter, the stuff reactivates easily. Sprue-goo is a cool tool in my aresenal. I even use it for bonding parts together, no matter if they are dissimilar material. In my opinion it does a better job than the hobby epoxy I have.

Yeah it was one of them campy movies. On the surface the storyline is appalling but it's presented in a way that a person has to chuckle.
