I'm sorry everyone, I'm in the middle of a major garage & basement cleanup so I haven't gotten much work done; especially when I'm tired. But I'm posting some WIP pics of the figures. I tried my best to do the splinter camo; even using a 20/0 liner brush. The pea dot camo camo came out better and the last figure isn't even finished. But they're getting close to completion, so just bear with me.

Hey All; the first 7 figures are practically finished. They'll be getting their weathering shortly along with their weapons and remaining equipment, then I'll just finish up the tank commanders and then I can get started on the bombed out building. As always all comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Looking pretty good Tiger. Those cammo patterns are hard to paint.

The figures are finished, weathered leather and dry brushed smocks to downplay the stark camo patterns and dirty them up a bit. The Pz. commanders have Archer transfers and Tamiya decals for their ranks and insignias. Any extra tweaking will be done as I go along. Now for the base and ruins.

Too many days have passed between posts. Unfortunately I've been busy with some other things. But here is a WIP. I hope to have some more later.

I was not happy with the small insignia on the Pak 40 ammo box so thanks to the people at Archer Fine Transfers I was able to replace it. I also was able to finish the destination sign post. I'm in the process of painting, weathering and building the ruins, rubble and remaining scenery. I'll post more WIP pics later.

Well I've painted and started the weathering of the building ruins with a dry brush. The first pic shows the clean ruins next to the drybrushed ones. Next comes the dark soot wash, then highlighting and pastels and/or pigments. Then to put all the components together and work them into the base.

Hey Gamera & Dodgy, thanks for the comments. I'm almost done with the ruins as I've put them together along with the street lamp and road sign. I still have to add the rubble, and highlight and pastel the ruins then when I'm satisfied I'll add the vehicles and protaganists. lol. Enjoy; and as always all comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

Thanks Gamera, I'm glad you liked the ruins. I decided against posting WIP pics and finished my project and posting the finished pics. I'm glad I finished this diorama and now I'm looking forward to my next one; which hopefully won't be as intricate as this one.

Nazi Germany is in its death throes and German soldiers put up a futile but brave attempt to stem the tide of the inevitable. In this diorama a Pz III ausf M and a Pz II Luchs await to meet the armor of the Red Army while a Waffen-SS Pak 40 crew set up a strongpoint along with a MG42 machine gun nest as they do "Their Solemn Duty" to the fatherland. All comments and critiques are greatly appreciated.

That looks fantastic.  Lot's of action and detail (eye candy).  Figures looks great and really add so much.  The ruins turned out really nice - all the debris around looks great.  Really nice piece.  Where do you put that when you're done?  Gotta be quite the shelf hog.

Thanks,

John

That looks awesome Tiger!!!

I agree it looks good and busy! I've seen some people put way too little stuff on a base way too big. And all the figures doing stuff helps keep things bustling!

Tiger II, you have done an awesome amount of work on this and your figures and ruins are great. But, for my two bobs worth, (an Aussie saying), your description puts this near the end of the war and they are just about to meet the Russians. Saying that, I think the armour would look a lot more used. In my opinion, the vehicles would be tired, battered and very war weary, as there would have been very limited resources to repair and pretty things up. Just my opinion.

Great work and congratulations on your vision and putting the scene together. Please don't take my remarks as serious criticism. It's just an opinion.

Thank you all for your comments. Dodgy thank you for your critique. Looks like the camera didn't catch all the weathering as I wanted it to, and I was debating about removing one of the side skirts but decided against it, but I appreciate your two bobs worth.
