The fly could have been taxiing out to the runway for takeoff.   Whistling [:-^]

I built that one as well, back in the 80s I think, when I ht a "jet-phrase" that started with Monogram's release of the F-86 (I wanted to model all of the aircraft-types Dad flew during his career... Turned out he never flew the Voodoo (he was a Phatom Phlyer at that time) but did take a few hack flights in the back seat of an RF-101 when we were at Bergstrom AFB, I'd just assumed he did. Shoulda asked...) Yours is WAY better than mine ever was, lol.. You did a truly outstanding job, especially displaying it with all the other "stuff"

Even up against the Phantom, that airplane is BIG... Dad said about it, "It wasn't just big, it was seriously big..."

C'mon, John, just admit that you scratch built that fly in 1:1 scale and tossed it in there to see if it was passable for the real thing. And that you have a 1:10,000,000,000 planet that you also scratch built that is going to be in a huge dio where the huge flys invade the planet and eat all the Gutage race, grinding there bones for their bread.

We see how ya are!Whistling [:-^]Laugh [(-D]

Seriously though, that is some nice work. Makes me wish I had the room and the ability to build dios.

Thanks, guys.  I made decals on my ALPS printer, and used the very nice Eduard PE set and the Legend resin avionics bay.

By the way, about that fly.  I missed it because it is in a "No Fly Zone".  Could only have been there for a second or two.  Here's the next shot in sequence.......Whistling [:-^]

I remember when Air Force birds looked like this. Navy/Marine birds too. Todays low reflectance, has it's place but can't match the beautiful color of "back then". Beautiful work on the VooDoo and the whole scene.

I think it does look very much like the box art, the nose is alot more pointy than it ought to be.  Maybe I should build a spare that I have, but the wing fits are just brutal by today's standards.  The mechanism that raises the gear when you close the canopy looks like a dinosaur backbone to me.

Ken, the B-4 stand came from this kit, very much older (and looking less like an F-102) than the recent Monogram kit.  We are talking near plastic model stone age here, 57 or so.  Blew the socks right off this 10 year old when it came out!

Fantastic work, John!!  Thumbs Up [tup] Thumbs Up [tup]  Looks like you put a lot of work on that one.  And I recognize that ladder as I'm currently working on the Monogram F-102, and you're right, it sure doesn't just snap together! Banged Head [banghead]

Thanks, everyone.  No, it is not "museum quality", not compared to the work I have seen that I thought was, but it is a pretty good picture stoogeSmile [:)].  There are some things I will do differently next time, and there will be a next time because I have an F-101A/C conversion in the stash, and an RF-101B kit also.  But first there is the F-100, F-102A, F-105, and F-106 to do.  I better speed up some, huh?

I will say again, the ground equipment and the base were built by James Steel, who was a museum quality builder.  Some of my ideas went into it, but the skills were all his.  I study it to see what I can do better.

Yes, the Monogram 1/48 Century series fighters are great models with lots of detail.  They don't snap together like a Tamiya kit, but when you have done all the work and it is done and looking nice in your pictures and on your shelf, they can be very satisfying.  This one is to me.

Yeah, Bernie, some airman is due for a demerit on those chocks!!

Wonderful work.  The 101 is one of my favorites and this kit is hard to beat in most respects in my opinion.

Beautiful, John, simply breathtaking work!  Ther Voodoo is superb in itself and the attention to detail really brings it to life!  Then, you add one of the most realistic dioramas I have ever seen and WOW!!!!  Thanks for sharing!

Great looking One Oh Wonder.  It looks great setting on the base.  Where are the chocks though?  You don't want it rolling into the stand.   Smile [:)]
