Good recovery J. Seriously those AVG P-40s were subjected to serious weathering in their short life spans.

OK guys, the MM III GB has been posted in the GB forum.

Thanks Carlos, and Eagle, check out the P-40 GB, some great P-40's that gave me inspiration to start and finish my build.

So, a little bird has gotten in touch with me lately and informed me that la famiglia has been looking to rise like a Phoenix from the ashes after the untimely disappearance of Don von Hammer. Reading through the thread a bit, it appears that Don Stik has been elected as the new Don. As a capodecima of la famiglia, I would like to give Don Stik my nod of approval.

Now, let's get down to business here. With the way things look, I might just have to give some support for this build. I haven't built much in the last year, and right now, I've got two room renovations and getting ready to welcome my first child into the world in early September. Until then, there will be lots of work ahead of me! As I said, I probably won't be building anything for this build, but it is nice to see some familiar faces (avatars) here, especially you Len, I hope that you get a bench back in order soon!

Thanks buddy! It`s been a while...hope you`re doing well!

I am doing well, thanks. I'll be even better after this baby stuff is all done with. She should arrive in early September so a good portion of my fluke season and the late striper season will be taken away from me this year. Oh well.. How is the house coming?

You`ll have that baby and the next thing you know, you`ll be watching them graduate from Highschool...like I will be next Thursday..lol. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...just need my %@#&^% plumber to finish up and call for an inspection...had power for about 3 weeks now and once we have hot water, we`re sneaking in...still have much to do to get my C.O. but we HAVE to get out of that shoebox we been living in for the past year and 9 months. It`s quite a tease to have a brand new house just waiting for you and not be able to get in there...lol.

As for fluke, my neighbor was nailing doormats at the clam stakes in 6` of water...I want to kill him!!! just kidding but maybe not...lol. I`ll have to wait till next summer to get back to fishing, obviously I have no time to go.

I have been building up my RM stash slowly with acquiring the 1/32 fighters repopped by RoG (Spit I, Seafire I, Hurricane, Bf-109G(F)), and now with the 1/48 Kingfisher, and Ebay buys on the PBY-5 ($42) and PBY-5A ($49 and $42).  A word for the budget conscious, get one now from Ebay if you want a PBY-5A, as Squadron's June flyer shows it is being repopped again, but with a price at $75.

WIP:  Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 73rd BS B-26, 40-1408, torpedo bomber attempt on Ryujo

Monogram 1/72 B-26 (Snaptite) as 22nd BG B-26, 7-Mile Drome, New Guinea

Minicraft 1/72 B-24D as LB-30, AL-613, "Tough Boy", 28th Composite Group

Thanks cnq,

I'm now learning how to do the interior and wash raised panel lines, and the instrument panels.

they're my first models. Actually I had a Academy 1/72 P-40 Tomahawk when I was in Vietnam but it was very bad.

I'm wondering why my pictures don't have thumbnails on my reply like the others' replies? :'-?

You have to paste individual thumbnails using the "rich format" and image icon to display them on your posts here. Somebody more computer savvy here can probably explain how to that better.

I'll give it a try.

It's not that hard at all.   I'll give it a shot, at least I'll explain how I do it. First, start an account at a photo-hosting site; I use Photobucket. Then, upload your pics that you've saved to your computer. After they are uploaded, you'll see the thumbnail pics.

Move your cursor over the pic and you'll see a little gear symbol in the upper-right corner. A drop down menu appears and you choose "get links". Another window will open with several choices for you. You want to click on the one that says "IMG codes". Once you do, it will show "copied". Now, go to the post that you've started here and simply "paste" the code and your pic will appear when you post your comments with "Post".

I hope that helps!
Gary

Here's a 1:72 Accurate Miniatures (ex Monogram mold) F-4C Phantom I'm currently working on.

Col. Robin Olds' Vietnam Aircraft.

I actually dirtied this one up by dry-brushing it with finely-ground black fireplace soot, followed by a dull-coat.

Still needs canopies, intakes painted, weapons pylons, and landing gear--and the final touch-up!

YET ANOTHER  1:48 Revell A-10 Warthog i'm building--this one's being built as a commission job for a friend; in-exchange for 2 cases of his home-brewed double chocolate stout!

This one has the SAC white metal landing gear and True Details resin ACES II seat

And an old 1983 1:32 scale F-15C I just started...cockpit and Bay #5 behind it are nearly complete. This is gonna be one BIG model when it's done! I'm building it to be displayed as a classroom visual aid for teaching Aircraft Construction Features / Flight Controls, etc.

MV, that isone of the true classics! It has its' faults, but it has never been topped in 1/48 early P-40s.

Man, there have been so many fine Monogram models in this long-lived thread!Bow Down

Please excuse me if I've posted this already.  It's the F-100D that was given to me by her pilot in Vietnam, Major Don Schmenk.   Here she is, seen at the Cameron airport.

WOW!  These latest entries are beautiful!  The P-40B is perhaps my favorite Monogram kit, and that one is sweet!  Love the Black Cat, too and the Century fighters.

Who says you can't build a nice model with Monogram?!
