Yeah, but at the rate that I complete a build, if I bring them all in to the next meeting I attend, I will be empty handed at the meeting after that Whistling You, my friend, are a much more profligerate builder Toast

Sweet! As for divvying up your models; just bring them all in! I do! LOL!

Looking forward to seeing them.

Mikey, that is a great looking Razorback. Way to go! You did far better in your preteens than I did!

Completely agree about this one; I built it back in my pre-teen modeling heyday and loved it. Will do again in the near future. In the meantime here’s my razorback .In many cases I prefer the Revell / Monogram release over the more expensive, over engineered Hasegawa, et al.

Yes she is... and dirty too, just the way I like my women... like the country western song. Thank you Mark. You'll see her in person in November or December. I have three new completed builds to take in to IPMS since my last meeting in July, and most likely will have several more as well so I will need to divvy them all up.

Thanks Ordie! I'll have to take a few pics of it. I built my Pine Island some 8-10 years ago if I recall. It was done OOB so it may not be up to the standards of my current models. Still, I'll get some pics of that one soon.

Thanks for the compliments on the Hawaiian Pilot and Calypso. Yeah, I watched all his shows too. Loved them! Someday I'd like to do a 1/72 scale Cousteau PBY to go with this ship. Maybe someday.

Thanks again for the compliments and the post.

... I'm sure I have a few other Revell/Monogram kits that I've built that I need to shoot pics of; the USS Pine Island comes to mind, so I'll have to find time to get them done.

I have the Pine Island in my stash, so I'd love to see photos of your build.  Built it when I was 11 or so (about 52 years ago, LOL!), and recently bought the reissue, as my original build is long, long since gone the way of firecrackers and lighter fluid.  That's a great Hawaiian Pilot build.  And the Calypso ... what can I say - I watched all of Cousteau's TV shows.  Loved 'em.  The Calypso was often accompanied by Cousteau's PBY (I have the 1:48 Monogram Catalina in my stash, also) ... All your builds look good to me.

My pleasure Carlos. I'm glad you like them. I'd always wanted a model of the Calypso ever since watching "The Wonderful World of Jacques Cousteau" as a lad. I never missed a show; it was one of my favorites way back then...

Ahhhh, the Calypso.... a beautiful kit of a great subject. Very nice my friend. I had forgotten all about the F-16XL and Goodyear Blimp kits until you posted those. Now I can see the blimp kit box in minds eye quite clearly. Thanks for sharing ;-)

Mark, I don't think that you have posted any of your R/M builds here yet. And as many kits that I know you have built, you have to have built a couple dozen or so Revellograms in Braille Scale. So get on it mister!

BTW, how was this month's IPMS?

This month's IPMS was great! Some awesome seminars in the round robins that really opened my eyes to some new techniques. I also placed for the first time since December: my Transall took first and my UH-1C took a second.

As for posting my Revell/Monogram kits, well I guess I'll have to get on it. Most of my Revell/Monogram kits were built when I was a wee youngster, so won't look as good as all the rest of these fine builds on this thread. I will post what I have pics of though....

Let's start with ships...

Here is one I did some time ago. It's one of their ships, the Hawaiian Pilot:

My apologies for the poor quality of the pic, my camera I used back then was not the best.

This is what I call the Hawaiian Pilot's "sister ship" only because I bought and built them at the same time. This is the Esso Glasgow tanker:

Here's another one I built because I was such a big fan of the man's show. Jacques Cousteau's Calypso:

This next one was a gift I built for a WWII Navy Nurse who served on the Mercy. She was on board when the Mercy was at Pearl Harbor, the Philippines, Guam, Okinawa, and several other places. I didn't build it the way it was supposed to be built; (I left off the helicopter deck) because I wanted it to look somewhat like her ship in WWII. It wasn't the most accurate representation of her ship, that would have taken far too much kitbashing/scratchbuilding than my skills would allow. Even so, she was thrilled to have received this.

The Plaque reads: "In Honor of your Service, Navy Nurse Corps, 1941-1945"

This last ship is the 1/720 scale Intrepid. I usually don't build my carriers in that scale, but this was a gift from someone special so I built it. I made it as an anti-submarine platform because as a kid I read somewhere that she served briefly as one. It ain't the most accurate either, but then I was 12 when I built this:

Okay, on to my aircraft...

I'll start with the only 1/48 scale aircraft I've ever kept for my collection. This was a Monogram P-51 that had been in our club's Distressed Kit Auction four times. It had been started and was so messed up by the builder that NOBODY wanted to bid on this as everyone considered it thoroughly unbuildable. After the fourth auction, it was offered to me or it was going to be thrown out. So I took it, not knowing what I was going to do with it. After looking it over, I figured I'd try to build it. It ain't the best looking model, especially compared to all you Masters, but this was 'resurrected', not rebuilt. Here it is:

Next up are two more 1/48 scale models I built for a friend. He was the senior Project Manager on the Development team for these two aircraft and he wanted models of them. I picked them up at a deep discount from a friend and finished them up.

First is the F-102 Delta Dagger:

Then I made him the Delta Dart:

Now for a smaller kit (1/72 scale), I got this for four bucks at a local show:

I also have an F-102 and F-106 in 1/72 scale for myself:

I built those when I was 11.

Here's three more I built when I was 11. These are some of my favorite planes; there's just something so beautiful in their brutal ugliness. Here are the three F-105 Thunderchief's I built:

Yes, that silver is the bare plastic. I had no airbrush (didn't know what one was at that age!) and I knew I'd never get the silver to look as good brushed on, so I left it bare plastic.

Yeah, I shoulda dusted them before I took these pics.

Moving right along, Here are three of a four-kit set that my wife bought me way back in 1991. It was a Revell set of four aircraft used in Desert Storm and boxed in one box. She actually bought it at Sears at the time! I built three of the four aircraft; I need to do the A-6 someday.

First aircraft:

Here's another kit I rebuilt to replace one built in my childhood. The original was smashed beyond repair during a move.

Of course, there's always the venerable F-15XL Cranked Arrow too. I got this for 5 bucks:

Here's one of my rare Revell helicopters I built. I wanted to do a different scheme since this one was so difficult. I did this one because my wife thought the horse was "cute":

Here's a couple of fun ones. First is my Goodyear Blimp. Yes, the lights and signage work:

And the one and only Wright Flyer. Inside the box they had a flyer showing ways to improve the model so I gave most of them a try:

And finally, the only 1/72 scale armor model that was done by Monogram, if I recall correctly. They boxed two versions, the T-80 and the T-80U. Both essentially the same model, but the second one had reactive armor added to it:

Okay, those are some of my Revell/Monogram models I built. I have more, but I need to shoot pics of them. I also passed over a number of models because I wasn't sure if they were Revell/Monogram or not, so until I can confirm that, I'll wait to post them.

Okay, my apologies for the long post and somewhat poor pics. Enjoy!

You would have to look on the national IPMS/USA website and see if there is a chapter nearby to you.

Here's my latest Revellogram build.  It's the 1/48 P-51B/C boxing.

If you'd like to see more pix, check out the thread here:  oortiz10's P-51C

Wow! That`s the Revell kit? I would`ve bet it was the Tamiya Mustang...goes to show these kits can be built up to beautiful models. I have a few of these in my stash including the newest one, which has some recessed panel lines. It also helps to have some modeling skills, which you have in heaps! Nice work O.

Pilot, you are doing great for your age. You are sure ahead of the learning curve where I was at that age.  By the time you hit your 20s if your continue to improve at this rate your builds will be quite a sight to behold. As long as girls, school, and a presumed forthcoming career don't get you too distracted  ;-)

Pilot, listen what he says - girls, sports, girls, cars, girls, wife, kids, career (did I say girls?): it's exactly where the 49 year donut hole in my scale modelling came from, LOL.  Just remember, as you go, the secret to it all is balance ...

I live in the hills out east of Cincinnati.  I've been up in your neighborhood once this summer, over at the AF Museum, and might be coming back soon to see the base-side exhibits, which I missed last time.

Cheers!

I picked this up myself when I was about 7 (8 years ago) It all started at the national museum of the USAF in my hometown Dayton, Ohio, I was 4 and on the way in  I was carrying an old toy six shooter that I remember ( we took it back to the car) and as soon as I saw that first hangar I fell in love! Then I was amazed a nearly messed my pants on sight of the B-29Along with the B-17 and 24, man did I love that ole mustang. So ofcourse all that led to model plane collecting and that to snap togethers then on to glue blobs, then paint blobs to now! I'm improving everyday!

Chris I love to see builds from the youth, if a Revellogram by a youngster doesn't bring back memories of a simpler time.....
