I finished the figures today. All that is left is finishing up the C-47 and I don't have too much more to do on that as long as the decals stop giving me trouble!

Very nice work, but one critique- when weapons are exposed for jumping, they are slung muzzle down/butt up. The butt rides lower to the shoulder and is less likely to entangle with the shroud lines, as opposed to the bore end with front sights, etc.

B-17 Guy - Thanks for your kind comment and yes I did paint on the L4 and E

Stikpusher - Thanks for the critique! Helps ensure accuracy! I did change it on a few figures but I left some the other way. I will put the gun bags by those figures showing that they will put there weapons in the bags but they haven't yet.

I got the flat on the C-47 today and I hope to finish putting everything together by Sunday!

I like it a LOT! Especially the less than perfect Invasion Stripes. The "chalk" number by the door is a great touch as well.

Nice job on the paint "runs" on the national insignias.  We see so many "perfect" paint jobs and in reality a lot of them were painted at night under adverse conditions.

Clear Left!

Great looking build, and I agree with the others on those less than perfect stripes. That's going to be a great dio.

Well it's finally finished! Overall it took much more time than I wanted it to, but I am happy with the results. I used stretched black sprue for the wires. I also added brake lines using some thin wire. got all of the figgies glued on as well as their equipment.

I'm not sure of a title yet. I was thinking "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers", or "night of nights" or something along those lines.

Hope you enjoy the final result!

Outstanding work there 101! Something that you can truly be proud of, no matter how long it took to complete.

Kit question, does this kit have the optional needle props in it? Or just the paddle props?

Very nice work all around.  I like the haphazard drips on the invasion stripes.

Awesome job!  As others have mention, the haphazard painting looks awesome.  I also like the grass between the slabs of concrete.

On the bench:  Tamyia Mosquito Mk. VI for the '44 group build.  Yes, still.

Hey 101, now that is a beautiful C-47!  Bow Down  The figures are awesome, but the D-Day stripes......brilliant, just brilliant!  That is one heck of a dio and I think your time was well spent.  Ultimate compliment.......I believe those brave men who were there, would be honored by your dio!  Great job!

Nice job!  But somebody needs to watch that guy with the wrench, it looks like he's about whack the landing gear real good.

101, terrific job. Oh My ..... is about all I can say. I have one for sure and maybe another coming from eBay in the next couple of days. Not sure I will tackle the figures, though. How did mask the L4 and E to paint them?

Really nice job, 101! Once you button it up, if you want to be able to see the detail, you could cut open the top along the panel lines if you do it carefully with new sharp #11 Xacto blades. Just start off slowly until you get a straight, deep cut, then continue evenly around the cut until the section is free. Change blades as soon as they start to dull. Would be a shame to lose sight of that detail work!

Thanks for all of the very kind comments everyone! I brought it to IPMS Nationals this year and it won third in the large aircraft diorama category. Thanks for all of your support throughout this build!
