I have a book that mentions several of his aircraft that I will try to look at later, and also after the war, the man went on to become the commanding general of all Nato air forces in Europe for several more years.

I googled "Gunther Rall Me109E" and it did come up with a "signed" wood carved display model. But the markings look pretty common except for the crest under the canopy.

For a cool interview with Gunther Rall watch the "Missions that Changed the War-Germany's Last Ace" series. It goes through alot of that and there are 4 episodes of it.

I couldn't find decal reference for a Rall Emil, though he definitely flew it. He was in the Battle of France and BoB, attaining several victories. He was shot down in late '41, after his 37th victory, just over the Russian lines, knocking him out and breaking three vertebrae. He was saved by a German tank crew then spent almost a  year in the hospital, after having been told he'd never walk again. Much less fly.

Nathan, I believe your correct, he only had about 16 victories, was shot down in the early days of the war, ( Im a Rall fan, and have never heard of or seen pictures of an E) and after 9 months or rrecuperating from serious injurys returned, was assigned to Jg52 and was transfered to the east where he added almost all the rest of his kills becoming the #3 top scoring ace in the luftwaffe. That was done though in Fs, and Gs.

Does anybody know if Gunther Rall flew and E model? If so, do you know if I can get 1/32 scale decals for his ride?

All I know is general info I read somewhere, but I believe he flew a 109E during the battle of France and the low countries, got shot down, and didn't rejoin a unit til the Eastern Front campaign came along. Not sure what his Emil looked like markings wise. Hope someone else can verify this??

Boy aint that tha truth!!!Indifferent

Half an hour, wow, that's like 25 minutes too long for shopping, Bish. Smile I used to be able to "shop" in five minutes, but the darned stores got so big, now it takes 10 just to find what I'm looking for. Confused

Doug, nah, she just doesn't like feeling rushed. I am very patient but she is very, very perceptive. Almost creepy sometimes!!!!

We don't have a Mall, but I still try and avoid going into town with the good lady. I must prefer to go in on my own, half an hour in and out.

That's a cool anti-mall strategy, Doug.

Thank the Lord my wife doesn't do the mall thing. She does spend some time in Craft and collectible stores but there's always something in there that a modeler can use.  I ended up getting my display case out of one of those.

Its great logic Mike... IE... I HATE the Mall... My wife used to (notice I said USED TO) ask me to go to the dreaded Mall with her... Guess whats just down the street from the Mall?... Why, its the Hobby Shop I frequent! Now... Whenever she wants me to go to the Mall... Guess where we have to go next? My Mall trips have been drasticly cut... And I still go to the Hobby shop when I want or need. LOLOL...

Looks like almost every modeller has at least one 1/32 109 in his stash! Wink

Yep, and mine arrived about a week ago. Man, what a kit.  Looks like it would be an awesome build right out of the box,  but, since I don't build many of these (that could change, however) I decided to go big on this one. Just added a few more AM bits to it, most notably a PE Erla hood from RB Productions.  Saw it in the window and just HAD to have it!  Big Smile (Hey, that logic works for my wife when it comes to shoes & stuff, so why not models?)  Wink

Allen, if I may suggest another great pilot to research... Major Ludwig "Zircus" Franziskit, I believe he was Group adjutant II/Jg27 Lybia North Africa 1941. I did his Bf109"E" Black chevron awhile back and found him to be an interesting guy.

I'm leaning toward the smoke ring scheme

Would that be Asi Hahn's bird you're talking about? Nice kit and accessories BTW.

Hi Mustang. I'm thinking about doing Hans Von Hahn's (not "Assi's") bird but that's only because of the Montex mask kit that arrived.  I may save it for another day. I really want to do a JG.27 North Africa bird as well...decisions decisions.  There are no lack of options, that's for sure.

I was just going through there site and come across it. It seems the 109F book is a recent release, 2013, so I guess they are bringing some of the older volumes up to modern standards.

Sorry Joe, I couldn't recall who had mentioned it. This is the first one of their books I have got and I am defiantly getting some more. I notice they are replaceing some older publications with 2nd Volumes, Me 262 for example, so hopefully a new Ju 87 book will follow.

Is it January yet??

It'll get here quicker than you think. Seems like that last quarter of the year just flies by!

Doesn't it ever. I can't believe the Stuka GB is 5 and a half months old already.

I just got the Mushroom yellow series book on the 109F that was mentioned earlier in the thread. It has some great detail pics in there and some great info, a really nice reference book. I need to get some more of those. They did a Stuka one I never got when I had the chance, defiantly going to have to try and find that one.

Nice to her that you got your copy Bish. I got mine a couple of weeks ago. I really like the Mushroom Yellow series. I have a handful of them now. Definitely provides some rather good detail pics as well as some unique profiles/schemes,
