Reminds me of my RC building days. Assembling all those ribs and spars over the plans with a wax sheet to keep the super glue off the plans. Your works looks awesome.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
An Update:Well lookie here. NO PINS!!!!!Yep that is right. The pins are gone and the framework is glued. It is not finished but it is all one piece now. Now what is left.First I need to build up the framework for what I believe is a radiator. Also I need to figure out the attachment point for the landing gear. There you have it. Now for most this is not a big update, for me it is a big milestone. A first. I have a complete wing frame that I can move forward with. All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged.Joe
Well just to show I have not forgotten this build. I am progressing but quite honestly a snail would do laps around me at this point. To bring everyone up to speed....-Lightening holes are finished.-Major details are nearly done. (Large rod sections)-Most small details are near complete including some "wiring" and mechanisms for flap cables.-Wheel well nearing completion.Pictures...I still have a bit to do to the wheel well and just a little more to the details on the wing framing. I need to fashion how the tip will fit in and how the whole wing will attach to the fuselage. Oh and the small detail that nothing is glued yet. Wow so much work for so little actual progress. BTW that is the fifth rendition of the wheel well. All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged.Joe
Mike not kidding. I have no knowledge of the subject matter. I am flying by the seat of my pants and not sure how I am going to get airborne.
Criticism............you must be kidding! Reminds me of the old stick and tissue paper models.
I listen to them on each build. I may not always do as they wish but I am learning that if I do as they want the building is a lot more fun. Although the progress seems slow it has been steady. Thank you for the kindness.
Awesome work!!! Looks similar to building an R/C warbird.
You hear the voices too?!?! I thought I was the only one... Lately they've been quiet, but that's only because I gave in and listened to them to shut them up.
I did it again.......I did not like the way the wing frame was looking. It just was not coming together like I wanted it to.........so......I tore it apart and redid it yet again. (fourth time) I also redid the wheel well. (third time)This time I did something just a bit different from the previous attempts.Slotted so I can work with it. I can put it together or take it apart to add the detail or whatever. Much happier with this. Now for the overall show of what I have. And the leading edge is almost ready to work with.So there it is to this point. Hopefully I can move forward now. I am much more comfortable with the framing like this. I need to punch out the lighting holes and add the detail but at least I can move forward now. (I think)All comments, critiques, or criticism are encouraged.Joe
Today was a long day. I started my grand experiment at about nine this morning and crawled away from the bench at about six tonight. What did I accomplish? Not much.I spent most of the day building up and then tearing down. Here is the point where I walked away. I have a cast wingtip for the wing. I have my third or fourth (I cannot remember which) rendition of the wing ribs. I have replaced one of the spars for the wing and cut another to fit the wheel well. I have begun to mock out the framing to see how it will work. So in nine hours I have got this.....That is where I needed to crawl away. I just needed to put it down for the night.Maybe tomorrow. All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged.Joe
Plastic thank you for the compliment but .....that is too much to think about. And way too far off.
This would be a definite candidate for a FSM article. The attention to detail so far is incredible.
Look'en good! Raymond

Many thanks for looking in.
Allen honestly I am not sure. This build is a buddy build and I am not sure just how far I will be at the start date for the 109 build here.
Now....
Well just an update to show you I have not fallen off the Earth and that I am still working on this.God the mess. What has taken my time over the last week. The wing framing.Slow and steady for sure but the results are interesting. All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged.Joe
Joe,
You did a fantastic job on the P-40 so this should be spectacular as well!
FYI, there is to be a 109 GB starting in the New Year and from the looks of the feeler thread, it's going to be huge. Wouldn't consider showcasing your progress and talent in there would you?
Allen
I'll be following along to see where the madness takes you. ;)
Thank you for looking in all.
This type of approach is very interesting as it will show seldom seen interior airplane areas. I sometimes do the same with armor by leaving off an armor plate section to show off the interior. Makes for a very unique display.
I do, actually, think I see where you're going with this. It'll be an interesting build once it's completed. I will watch this one with great interest! Raymond
Two questions: First; Do you run fever with these fits? Second; If not, do you have any left? :-) Raymond
UMMMM!!!
Disclaimer:Remember, I DO NOT BUILD GERMAN AIRCRAFT!The Beginnings...The kiitOut of the box this kit is impressive. Some good detail in the parts and the etched lines and details are not canyons or sinkholes.First thing is though, I am finding I just cannot stand molded in surface detail on the interior surfaces. So that just had to go away. With that out of the way the voices began to scream at me. So I rough cut some interior bulkheads. And the rest...well....it still is all together.I did draw a bit on the fuse sides. Just in thought.I warn you, if you like Trumpeter kits, this may not be a pleasant build for you to watch. The voices are guiding me and they want me to be brutal.
First Cuts:The voices....they scream at me.......the voices.......It is their fault. I do not know what happened. The kit was fine and then well.....Good Lord here I go again. And .............after.............Well nothing left to do now but finish the job. On to the tail section. Guess I will have to cut it out and do my thing there as well. The voices.................they call for more......................Till the next time I guess........All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged.Joe
