Hahahahahahaha that made me die! Lololol. That was pretty much me back in 2004. I hadn't seen Band of Brothers up to that point yet. But I specifically remember watching it at the hotel the night before I left for basic and thinking "what did I JUST do??" Hahahaha too funny.

Wasn't that part of the lyrics from the old "Space Invaders" song???  I swear I haven't heard that in about 35 years!

For sure! Although I think Hobby Lobby might be a distant memory. I stumbled onto a "mom and pop" type of supply store here in my area DEDICATED to military model and supplies. Everything I'd spend 45 minutes to an hour looking for (and never finding in H.L.) I found literally within the first minute of being here. So yeah pretty amazing lol.

Airborne, I will keep an eye on that C-47 build of yours... I suppose you will just have to check back there again in a few weeks to see if they have restocked with any new aircraft kits after the big one is all done. Ya never know.

Patrick, thank you for the compliments. Yes the upper camo pattern was done freehand. I masked off the lower color for a hard edge there. I used a hand me down "Master" double action airbrush, that I had recently been given by a family friend. My first time using a double action airbrush. From what I had read online about that particular brand & type they are bargain stuff from China, but I was quite pleased with what I was able to do with it here.

Hahaha tell me about it! Those coupons are like a drug! So I went there yesterday but couldn't find anything. I think I might re-do so old models I screwed up. Maybe a P-40 or Corsair. Well see. I still have a lot of work to do on my C-47/maybe diorama.

Nice to take a while and enjoy a long look at your fine build. Super good job you made of it. The camo is perfect, did you freehand that and what airbrush/tip was used? Thanks for posting and the photos.

Thanks Airborne. If you take a look over at the 1945 Group Build, the backstory of this particular aircraft is on there. She took part in supporting the Operation Varsity drop in March 1945, so that was a clincher for me. Hobby Lobby and that 40% off coupon as a phone app.... yeah, I'd be picking up a new kit... LOL!

Thank you Brandon. I really do enjoy these old Monogram kits. And it is fun for me to dress them up a bit more than what was in the box.

Thanks for the run-down, Stik!  It's good to know and greatly appreciated.  If I build a Typhoon and it turns out looking like either yours or Tex's, I'll be exceedingly happy!  Toast

Eric

Thanks as well Eric!  Stik's bird is a real looker isn't it?  As for the camo on mine, it was an experiment of sorts, using Parafilm for the first time.

PJ, Eric, cnq, Thank you for looking in and your compliments.

Eric, regarding the camo, there seems to have been some variety on that. RAF fighters usually had the upper colors with a very tightly feathered demarcation line, but the line between upper and lower colors was hard edged, which is what I did. But you do see some that also appear to have hard edge upper colors and occasionally some that have the upper/lower line feathered as well, but that is the least common from the photos that I looked at.

Oh what a beauty!  I think the Typhoon is the only British plane that I like.  Well, the Typhoon and the Tempest but that's pretty much it.  I MUST get my hands on one of these Monogram gems the next time I'm in the hobby shop.

Stik, I loved the picture of your plane and Texgunner's sharing the same pose.  One thing I was wondering, though, was about the camo demarcation lines.  One plane seems to have hard edges while the other one has soft.  I say they both look awesome but is one more "correct" than the other?  I hate to use that word because I don't want to insinuate that one is less beautiful than the other.

Thanks!

Like this one? Big Smile Wouldn't they look cool posed together?   I don't have the photo-shopping skills to do it, but I bet someone does...

thats as good as I can do Dunce

Yes they would. I am working on some RAF ground figures now to eventually pose with this and my other builds as needed... and I still need to find a bit of fine wire for the antenna whip
