I use the bug as well from small shop.  It is my second bending tool.  I had a larger one and I found the small shop one the best.  Never had a problem with it.

No problem at all, it's my pleasure.  As for the "The Bug" Photo Etch bending tool, I'm in love with it as it's heft makes bending PE precise.  I'm glad that you were able to finally see the Photo Fold in action on You Tube.  Thank you for the read and reply

Sorry you had trouble assembling your PhotoFold. Interesting concept (mini bending brake).

My 2 cents, when I was shopping for a PE workstation, I wanted one from The Small Shop, but everyone was sold out of the one I wanted, so I opted for another mfg which is made out of a soft plastic and I've never been thrilled with it. I think you made a good choice. The machined and hard anodized aluminum construction of the Small Shop line makes good sense to me.

The bending tool that I just purchased is the identical item that you now own.  With the assistance of Mrs. Toshi, I purchased via eBay "The Bug" from (The Small Shop).  This product is absolutely solid, if this tool is cared for properly, I think my grandchildren will be able to utilized "The Bug" as well.

Hence I agree with your comment!  The bending tool I purchased is from "The Small Shop", and it's called the bug.  For the sum and S&H of $51.00, this seemed like the best cost effective tool.

I'd already seen that Youtube video for the PhotoFold bending tool. I lost interest in it the second I saw there was no secure way of holding the photo etch in place, other than thumb pressure. The expense was the other turn-off. Why spend $32 for a simple device, like that, when for twenty dollars more, you can have one of the top of the line cnc machined tools?

I just received my photo etch bending tool today.  It weighs a ton, this tool is made and produced with extreme quality and longevity in mind.  I paid $51.00 including S&H from eBay.  So far I feel it's worth the substantial financial debt.

I suppose my assembling of the product was faulty hence my premature review on the Photo Fold.  Then again it is just my humble opinion.  I must agree that not only did this tool look really cool, it was the most cost effective photo etch bending tool out there.

I avoid it when I can though I did pick up 'The Bug' from the Small Shop that LMT pointed out. As several posters have already stated I tend to use a pair of pliers or tweezers more often than 'The Bug' though...

Didn't know they made bending tools for photo etch. If you ever wanna try putting these MetalEarth kits together (I did an Eagle and a Raptor) a tool to help bend the nose cones would have helped.

They have a GREAT PE bending tool.  I have one, and I can tell you....it's the bee's knees.  It's EXCELLENT value for money.  Cheap at twice the price.

I can see your very valid comment in the case of photo etch items.  This is my first time in the use of photo etch products.  After this P-51 build, I'll post my conclusion on the need to use photo etch items.

I have never seen a photo etch aftermarket product, this is my first time in the utilization of photo etch.  Hence, I'll see how it turns out.

I usually end up not using most of the PE parts, because you can't see most of them when the build is finished,  and the ones you might see disappear in paint.  Not worth the effort in many cases, to me.

Yes, they are pricey!  The best (Cost wise) tool I found is a 4" bending tool for $51.00.

I watched You Tube on the long nose plier bending technique, I see why Tamia only offers the plier type photo etch bending tool.

It's the tool that has a major issue.
