Work in Progress "WIP" B-25J Mitchell.

Thank you, I don't know if I'm prolific but, learning and listening at best.  I wish I had secret glue!  LOL!

As for taking my time, I will do so

Toshi is one of the most prolific modelers I have ever seen. I think he uses 'secret' glue that dries faster than everyone elses!

I was in shock when I received the B-17G, it was produced during the Monogram era, prior to the merger of Revell and Monogram.   For the sake of nostalgia, it was nice to see the bold letters "Monogram" printed on the box.  Although the box cover portrait defers from what I recall, it's still an exciting build.  Can't wait to build that monster.  I am going to change the scheme of color in regards to the Fortress, the box has it in OD.  With the interior in green zinc chromate, the color variation is none to non-existent.  I want to do the whole B-17G in a bright glossy silver, this will definitely off-set the color variation with the interior of which will be the green zinc chromate.

As for taking my time, I will do so, thanks for the heads up Mustang1989.

What I'm really excited about is that my "Visible B-17G" arrived yesterday and it's just so out of this world.  Amazing!  I spoke with Mrs. Toshi about purchasing PE for this project, she gave me the go ahead.

"Thunder over Michigan 2015"  will be August 29th and 30th. The U.S .Navy  Blue Angles will do their thing as will the Canadian Snow Birds. The B-17 and the B-25 will be doing "rides" both days. There is a long list of other historic aircraft that will be present and the USAF will put on an F-16 flight demo as well.

I go to this airshow annually and it is one of the best war-bird shows in the U.S., bar none. If you are a war bird lover this is the show to see.

Wow, thank you so much for that information, I will take a look at that link.  I have 2 other kits after the A-10, a Tamiya 1:32 Mitsubishi A6M2b Zero Fighter Model 21 Zeke, and a Monogram Visible B-17G.  I'm looking forward in purchasing PE for the visual affect in the "Visible B-17G".  

I look forward in your build of the conversion to a B-17H, I hope to see a WIP of your build.  We can all learn so much from the build.  Thank you for the read and reply.

About 20 miles west of Detroit MI is Willow Run Airport in Yippsilanti MI. Willow Run was created by Henry Ford to build B-24s during WWII. The airport hosts an aircraft preservation organization that has a flying B-17 and a flying B-25. Check out their annual airshow at "Thunder over Michigan.com". There is usually more than one B-17 at the airshow, and there is always the B-25 as well. You can pay to go up in the B-17 as well as the B-25 and this can be done during the year as well as during the annual airshow. Be sure to bring a camera.

I have built both the Monogram, now Revell/Monogram, B-25 and the B-17. They are both great kits. I have a second B-17G waiting to be converted to a B-17 H. I found a conversion kit in the UK and am accumulating AM parts for the build. Your build looks great so far so keep up the good work and enjoy the build.

Beautiful job you made of this one, I rate it as your best to date. Super nice work painting the canopy frames, I enjoy seeing your constant skills improvement, and reading of how much fun you find in the hobby. It has to be great therapy for you, constantly planning and building all of these models, plus we all benefit from getting to see your work and share in your enjoyment.

Nice work on the pit there Toshi looks great. Nice dry brushing.

Good luck with the PE parts. Couple of tips, get a hard surface cutting board, glass, ceramic or some such. Do not try to cut them with the xuron nippers. Use a flat sharp blade. Do not try to cut them on a 'self sealing' mat. Also a small set of pliers with SMOOTH jaws are very helpful too. Pliers with textured jaws will quickly make a mess of things. Also some of those tacky pick up sticks while not necessary sure make things a lot easier. A dab of poster putty on the end of a toothpick will do in a pinch.

Search the web for videos on working with PE they are a whole new skill set.

I'm still working on the Mitchell you raced right by me, will probably have two other models done by the time I get it done!

Oh yea remembered one more thing about the A10 kit. Gettting the fit of the gun in the nose is a real challenge. Take your time with it and fit it about 100 times before you glue it.

Thank you for the compliment.  I'm just building these model kits and having fun doing them.  I try my best with what limited skills I have to complete each build, good or bad, I enjoy this hobby more than my football card collection.  

I wanted to build the zero as soon as it arrived, but I'm also a fan of the A-10, and I don't have any experience in building jets.  So this was a great challenge for me.  What I'm really excited about is that my "Visible B-17G" arrived yesterday and it's just so out of this world.  Amazing!  I spoke with Mrs. Toshi about purchasing PE for this project, she gave me the go ahead.  Thank you for always supporting my builds and sharing your experience with me.

 As for the next couple of builds: I'm an A-10 fan for sure but I'm really looking forward to seeing that Tamiya Zero kit come together.

Ah, yes, I forgot to add that I went old school and painted the windows by free hand.  It was just one of those days where my hand was able to get busy and do some detailed work.

Yes, the B-25J turned out to be a nice build for.  As I mentioned I had issues with the nose and top turret of the Mitchell, other than those two discrepancies, it was definately a fun build.  Thank you very much for always following my builds as well as helping me with builds.

To my fellow forum members,

Here is my completed B-25J Mitchell.  The part that gave me some difficulty was the nose and as UlteriorModem mentioned earlier, the top turret.  Other than that, I will say I was not prepared for the decal, I had know idea it was that big and in one piece.  Luckily, I was able to overcome the placement of the decal.  

Here is my next build, A-10 Warthog, Zero, and Visible B-17 which is on route.

B-25J-25-NA, 43-36192 12th Air Force Corsica 1944

This aircraft was sent to India and was going to partake in the Pacific war.  The words was originally going to be on the side of the B-25, instead, the crew painted the top of the Mitchell.  

As for that hobby shop, I'll try to head out there next week.  Thanks for the tip and the read and reply.
