Toshi

To BrandonD,

Thank you sir!  I'm glad you like my collection.  I had a hard time to make room for my aircraft.  I recall seeing a FSM Forum member with his/her collection hanging on a wall.  That's where I got my idea from!  Thanks for the visit!

Toshi

Yeah, I am having that problem, too. Idon't want an air force taking over my house, so aside from the tops of bookshelves, I have others just sitting in cabinets in the garage. Maybe I'll bring a few to my office (probably not Luftwaffe ones). But maybe a garage wall can be made into something like you've got.

-BD-

I've donated several models to VFW's.  They would proudly display them.  And you can visit the VFW's any time to see your models.  Just an idea.  I also gave models to friends of  Mrs. Toshi's children.  They now are modelers.  So that's cool now.

It really gave me room for more models.  I would have never thought that this would be an issue a year ago!  LOL!

All I can say is that I am so happy and blessed to be here and getting to know outstanding modelers like you. Thank you for supporting me and all of my work in progress.

Great detail on the pit!

Thank's Hunter!  The cockpit detail was a first for me as I've never had to build one out of resin before.  Thank's for stopping bye and supporting my projects!

I don't know how I missed this one Toshi. You did a very good job on this P-38 and I'm glad your resin parts dropped in place without any modification. usually they don't just drop in and need lots of tweeking. The resin pit was a huge improvement over the included kit's.

You are correct about those decals being a PITA to work with. I guess you forgot when I mentioned the same thing in another thread you had going about the P-38 but the modern Academy decals printed by Cartograph are a pleasure to work with so that problem has been corrected by Academy.

The gaps you mentioned were not your doing cause I had similar issues when I built mine but I was able to Tenax those gaps and the melted plastic filled the thin voids so I ended up using PPP in two small spots only.

Again Toshi well done Beer

Thank you for the kind words.  Yes, the resin cockpit and other parts fit literally perfect right into the area of which it was meant for.  I know that some time ago, I built a resin type cockpit for a Revell F4U Corsair.  Nothing fit, it was a nightmare!  LOL!

Yes, I totally forgot about the decal issue.  That's my TBI.  Sorry about that.  I'm glad that  Cartograph is the new decal carrier for Academy.

As for the fit and finish, I had no idea it was not my fault.  I thought I had the whole airframe twisted to one side and that it was not square.  WOW, that's a shameful mistake on Academy's part.  Really?  Shame on them!  Thank you so much for the information.

You touching base with me on this build is so much appreciated.  I am most obliged.

Toshi, I think you did an exceptionally nice job on this one. The finish and decal work look excellent.

I'm rethinking the spraying of anything except acrylics indoors due to a recent unpleasant lung-related diagnosis in my household, so I'm more than a little bit interested that your Vallejo Chrome finish looks so good.

Could you tell me a little more about using tamiya extra thin for decal setting? I missed that discussion.

To quote you sir, doing; "An exceptional nice job on this one", you are way too kind sir.  I am most humbled!  The finish was trying at best as it was the second time I used it.  And the decals were very difficult to apply.  All in all, it turned to ok for what it was.

I was extremely gratified that the Eduard Brassin Resin Set worked out well. Everything fit almost perfectly.  I did a resin cockpit for a Revell 1/32 F4U-Corsair.  It was a disaster at best!  LOL!

I'm sorry to hear about your lung-related issues, I hope that this will all pass.  The Vallejo Chrome finish is very pressure sensitive.  It must be shot at or between 15 to 20 psi.  Other than that, it sprays beautifully.  Also make sure the surface that you will be spraying on is or without any blemishes as this paint will pick it up.

There really was no discussion involved with using the Tamiya Extra Thin Cement so you missed nothing at all.  What I do, when I have issues with decals laying down is to place the afore mentioned decal in place, get a little Tamiya Extra Thin cement and just slowly touch the outside of the decal.  And that's all there is to it.  Like anything else, it's a trial and error practice. And mine was more error than anything else!  LOL!

Thank you sir for this session on this thread.  It is most appreciated!

Excellent work as always, Toshi! Really great looking build.

Thank youWannaBeFarmBoy!  I'm always honored that you feel this way about my builds, especially of the "Putt Putt Maru" P-38 Lightning aircraft.  This was my first time using a resin cockpit.  That turned out great!  Thank you for always following my threads and supporting my builds!

You did a fantastic job on the "fork-tailed devil" Toshi. I think the gap issues you encountered more often than not is typical of the complex layout of the aircraft. Just the nature of the beast so to speak. Again, fantastic job!

Thank you roger_wilco.  Your words are too kind.  I have to agree with you in that the gaps I encountered is A-typical of this aircraft.  I think it got cocked to one side.  Thank you for the read and reply especially the support you've given me!

Thank you Engine_95.  The resin cockpit was an exceptionally engineered product and well executed cockpit by design.  I've never encountered anything like this before.  LOL!

Thank you sir for the support in my build and the read and reply!

Thanks Hunter.  12 months is a lot of time to make mistakes to correct them, you know!  LOL!  A year is more than enough time time to make mistakes and fix them.  This, I try to do.

Thank you for responding to my 2 questions, Toshi. And sorry I'm late getting back with you, the last couple weeks have been very busy. All is going well, no worries.

I did forget to mention earlier that I thought your building the kit cockpit to use as a visual reference for the resin one was extremely clever. Pluse, it provided an interesting visual for your WIP.

Also, that you did very nice work on that hand painting.

Not a problem at all.  I'm just happy to be allowed to post my builds    on the forum.  Having members read and or reply is just icing on the cake.

I've heard and read so many issues about resin kits that I wanted to double check my work hence the duplicate building of the cockpit.  Plus at times I need the practice and patience!  LOL!
