All that talk of seasons... We have two here: rain on, and rain off. Lol

I can hardly wait to see more. You're doing very well!  :)

LOL!  Rain off and rain on.  Currently we are in the rain off and rain on situation.  We are having an April showers in May.  Our temps are crazy right now.  Yesterday we were at 87 degrees.  In a day or so, we will be in the low 50's.  So now we also have a hot/cold situation.

I'm very excited in seeing the progression of this build and where it would take me.  I'm learning a lot from this kit.  Thank you for the support you've given me.  I highly appreciate it!

Front fueselauge halves.  Those little dimples you see are not pin ejector marks.  Those are specific by design of the Mosquito.  Don't go looking for panel lines on this aircraft, there are none.  The surface is as smooth as a babies bottom. Don't forget, this was all made of wood!

Now that the XF-71 had time to cure for 24 hours, it's time to add the details in.

Toshi. Your right that it was made of wood. I also believe they covered the wood, or parts of it, with a linen-type fabric to smooth out the airplane surface.

Yes, metal was a hard to find product during WWII, so it benefited DeHavilland to build the Mossie in wood.

Hi, Toshi -

Yup, the Mossie and some other airplanes were constructed mainly of wood, good strong stuff. But as they aged, if the termites stopped holding hands the wings would fall off. (British pilot joke.)

Here in wet Western Oregon we have two seasons, winter and the last two weeks of August. The mailman just dropped off at the box, gotta get my parka and snowshoes on to go get it.

Great job you're doing Toshi, thanks for the update.

Yup, the Wooden Wonder.  Wow, the weather in Oregan is severe!  I'm just tired of switching from short pants to long pants.  LOL!  Soon, That's all I'll be wearing.  Short pants and a tank top.

Thank you for always stopping by and it's my pleasure to update everyone.

Hey Toshi I think your build is progressing well, as usual for you.

What's with the Oregon weather bashing? Smile

We've had several days this spring when we can see the sun - maybe 7 or 8 - what's wrong with that? Wink

Actually Patrick's statement about the last two weeks in August isn't actually true but I don't want everyone in the U.S.A. to move up here and make the area too crowded. Therefore I'll not go into how I feel this is one of the most beautiful states in the union and is near nirvana for a hiker. Nor will I comment on how I feel the beauty of the Oregon shoreline and its Cascade mountains are so photogenic that, for an amateur photographer like myself, it's paradise. No sense in mentioning that the Columbia Gorge area - both the Oregon and Washington sides - hold some remarkable treasures for those interested in working for them. Nope, let Patrick's statement stand - it'll keep the riff raff out.

1943Mike, thank you for your comment and support in my Tamiya 1/32 Mosquito build.

As for the photos, they are just beautiful and stunning.  I've haven't been home to Hawaii since 1999.  I don't miss anything at all except one thing, the smell of the salt air from the Pacific Ocean in the early morning hours.

Thank you for sharing these photos here.  Once again, they are just stunning!

Measure twice, cut once!  Here is a dry fit of the Mosquito's fueselauge.  Thanks to Tamiya's beautiful engineering, there are absolutely no gaps.  Just some very light sanding is needed at the seams.  Meaning no putty at all.

And it's going to be 81 and sunshine somewhere near you tomorrow. Just a moment whilst I fetch my violin to play Hearts and Flowers, Cap'n. Stick out tongue

Seriously, can you or Toshi send one of those 80-something days to N Indiana?

Toshi, don't think I ever though to mask fuselage halves together to dry/test fit. Such a simple idea, thank you. (If I already said that over in the GB, sorry, my brain is gone)

LOL!  I'll be happy to send you some 80 degree weather your way.

I noticed that several of the pro forum members doing this so I thought it'll be a good idea to do so myself.  I've been doing it since the end of last year.  I'm glad that I could pass something like this a long.

To Greg,

I wanted to add that dry fitting the fueselauge, wings, etc. will help in any alignment issues and or warpage.  Gaps would be extremely visible so it's easy to mentally or physically mark with a pen or pencil the gaps at hand. I hope this helps!

That makes sense, and thanks for taking to time to point it out, Toshi.
