Completed Trumpeter 1/32 Vought F4U-1D Corsair with Big Ed Set

Dang Tosh! You da man for taking on a Trumpy Corsair. BIG parts count on those kits for sure. You seem to be handling it with grace and style though. Lookin' good so far good buddy.

Similar to some of the Dragon armor kits. Some have mislabeled parts or parts missing in the instruction sheet but present in the box!

Looks great with the wings folded up!  That's quality work.  Love the clear engine cowling, too.  Is that the Tamiya paint stand you've got it set up on?  Would you recommend it? 

I also wanted to ask you about your "wall of fame".  It looks like you've got them hung on string around the nose gear?  Where do you hang one like this that doesn't have tricycle gear arrangement?

As for the paint stand, it is a Tamiya paint stand that you so correctly pointed out.  I Definately and positively recomend the Tamiya paint stand 100%.  It paid itself off in dividends!

The aircraft on the "Wall of Fame" are either hung from the tricycle landing gear, the tail landing gear, or by the wings.  Of which this Corsair will be hung.

To my fellow forum members,

The last couple of days were very interesting and fun!  We got to babysit our grandson Ezra for two straight days consecutively.  He was such a good boy!

He played with his toys and ran around when uncle Brett visited, we all watched Baby Einstein, he took his naps when he was supposed to, and did not once complain and cried.  

As soon as the parents showed up, all hell broke loose.  It was night and day!  He cried, acted spoiled, and overall turned into Mr. Hyde!  LOL!  I couldn't believe it.  The parents must spoil him.  Oh well, not my kid as they say, we are just the grandparents and he listens to us as we're very strick with him and he listens.  I'm just old school.

Speaking of old school, one of my Corsair wings broke.  So I'm going to open up the gun bay on the broken wing and glue it straight on.  I guess things happen for a reason.  It actually looks really cool, with one wing folded!!!!  Check it out!

 P.S.  As you can see some putty and a copious amount of CA thick was needed to get the wing centered.  LOL!

As most of you know, Mrs. Toshi had a tumor removed from her brain.  She is doing fine but still needs a lot of rehabilitation.  So I've been very busy caring for her.  

Today I got a chance to mess around on the bench.  Here is the Corsair with a coat of paint.  Let me know what you all think.  I want to thank you all for your support, I greatly appreciate it!

Another family from FSM Forums gave me the strength and support I need to take each day one step at a time.  Thank you!  You are correct sir that our 25 years of love has pushed and helped us get past this debacle. 

As for my start on the F4U-1D Corsair, my two children wanted me to keep busy and enjoy some me time.  So as you've seen, the Corsair Has been sprayed with Vallejo Model Color 70.899 Dark Prussian Blue.  I ran out of that color and just didn't feel like going back to Hobby Lobby for paint.

Then I remembered I had a fresh unopened bottle of Model Master 1742 Insignia Blue Acrylic.  It was a perfect match.  In the end, everything worked out fine.  I'm very happy both with the outcome of Mrs. Toshi and the Corsair.  

I want to thank you all in helping me get through this, your support means so much to me.  Thank you my fellow brothers and sisters of FSM Forums!

More touch up work is needed, but here is what I have thus far and I'm very pleased by it's outcome.  I really like the gloss on the Corsair so I'm going to make it a museum piece for my "Wall of Fame (Planes)!  lol!

Wings are in the folded position,scared to put them in the "locked"  way.....cracking sounds! I am hoping all of the medical drama is behind the Toshi family and you can enjoy the upcoming holidays.

As for the F4U-1D Corsair, the wings were a challenge.  It took a couple of days messing around with just one wing.  Then the other side had different issues and that took a couple of days as well.  Then when of the wing collapsed, I was devastated.  As always, the more things move around the better the chances something will break.  I figured it out and just attached  the broken wing straight.  With the gun bays visible, this became a fantastic idea!  

Im going to leave the Corsair as glossed, a museum displayed piece if you will.  I figured, just something a little different.  Anyway, I hope you and FSM Forum members enjoy this WIP.  Please let me know ladies and gentleman your critique on this WIP.  DasBeav, thank you so very much for always following, reading, and replying on my threads.  I am so grateful for this, thank you sir!

Thank you for the prayers for my family and looking out for me.  Especially for the love of my life, Mrs. Toshi.  Your outreach is very heart felt and appreciated. 

For me, it's been a very difficult month.  I can only take one day at a time and pray.  My children encouraged me to get back into finishing or at least start building my Corsair.  

As for a recommendation of a 1/32 F4U Corsair, I highly praise Tamiya's offering.  They just came out with a brand new Corsair in 1/32.  I insure you, you will find this kit at the show.  Check online for reviews on this kit, also the new Corsair kit is mentioned in the new FSM.  

If I knew there would have been a new Tamiya offering, I would not have purchased the Trumpeter kit, although there's nothing wrong with the Trumpeter kit.  And purchase this new Tamiya Corsair!  I'm very excited about this new model.  I told my older brother about it and he said he would purchase this kit for me as a gift!  Yeah!!!

P.S.  As for this Tamiya Corsair, I feel it needs no PE.  But that's just my humble opinion.  Also since this kit has just been released, there might not be any PE from Eduard yet?
