Love what you have so far. Your last post with the 17 sec. of video made me and my wife get up and "get down"  just like we were in a club !!! (Glad it was  only 17 sec.  .... I can't dance like I use to. ) Pant.. Pant.. I need Oxygen!!

Glad to here Ms. Toshi is on the mend. I will continue sending good Karma vibes your way.

Happy to see you back at the bench. You definitly made the broken wing look like  it's suppose to. As my cat says when it falls of the table..... I ment to do that.

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Thank you sir!  Yes, the Facebook video music is funky.  I didn't even have anything to do with the video.  Facebook asked me if I wanted to post a video of my build and I clicked post, and that was that.

I'm glad that you and the Mrs. got a chance to dance.  It's Definately a good workout!  lol!  Don't worry about not dancing like you used to, I can't even dance according to Mrs. Toshi!  lol!

As for making the broken wing look's like it's in the fixed position, it took several tries, a few curse words, CA, and a ton of Tamiya putty!  lol!  Thank you for following along on my build.  I'm most honored.

Hey Toshi, this build is looking great!  It's great that you were able to take the problem of the broken wing and turn it to your advantage.  I think it will come out looking very unique, and awesome to see the gun bays in the straight wing.  Smile

Cheers, Mark

Thank you MrStecks!  Yes, the broken wing situation was a big issue for me.  At first, I was trying to find a way to attach the wing in the up position.  Then I looked at the gun bays and realized that no one would be able to see it.

The fixed position was the only solution to that.  Even after the thought, how was I going to attach the wing?  Well with a great amount of patience, CA, and Tamiya putty I was able to get things started again.

I know the F4U-1D Corsair is not suppose to look like this, but that's ok.  It'll Definately make a great conversational piece!  lol!  Thank you MrStecks for supporting my thread!

Wow, great work Toshi! Very impressed with your problem solving skills going with the wing folded down and gun bay open.  It's an interesting look.

Hey Toshi,

Missed some of the updates until now.  First off, my prayers are with you and Mrs. Toshi.  Rehabilitation can be a frustrating experience, but very necessary.  I hope she continues to progress.  Glad to hear your kids are so supportive.  You definitely raised them well.

The Corsair is looking GREAT!  The fix for the wing issue is well done.  I figure they must have had one wing up and one down at some point.  This build has been fun to watch, as have all of your builds.

I tried and tried to glue the wings.  But I've thought of this concept even if it's wrong and glued the wing in that fashion.  Thank you for the read and reply.

Nice to see this corsair with some paint on it Toshi =]. It looks like the Trumpy kit doesn't quite match up with the Tamiya offering but you are definitely breathing some life into it. One thing I've learned over the last couple of years is to not always worry about a kit's accuracy but to embrace the challenge of whipping it into shape so to speak. A good modeler makes good models. =]

We're getting to watch a good looking corsair.

I hope you and Mrs Toshi are doing well. I'll keep you both in my prayers.

Yes the rehab people keeps pushing Mrs. Toshi to get better.  They just found out that she is a level 2 cancer patient.  There's five levels of cancer.  This has become trying experience.  She now has to get chemo therapy.

Yes I really love the way the Corsair looks.  It took a lot of CA and Tamiya putty to get this thing straight. lol!

Thank you for the support and read and reply's I've been receiving from you.  It means a great deal to me.

Yes, this Corsair cant even touch the Tamiya level.  It is nice to put one of these together.   I've tried other brands that make Corsairs this build has been enlightining.  Unfortunrely, I haven't been at the bench. There's just the landing gear and decals.  Thank you for the kind words.

Toshi what you and the better half are going though sounds really frustrating. I'm glad you always seem to have a positive attitude, best wishes and prayers and you know we're here for you.

Looking forward to seeing you get back to your Corsair.

Gamera, it's very frustrating.  It's one thing after another.  Getting a hug each minute of the day from Mrs. Toshi is worth all the gold in the world.

There's nothing to be negative about.  My philosophy is that if you're negative you'll be miserable.  So being positive is the key to happiness

Don't get me wrong, I cried and cried for a great deal of time, but after that I just wiped my tears and be strong for Mrs. Toshi.  For now, that's all I can do.

As for my Corsair, I've been so busy with all of this stuff, I had very little time for my building of my Corsair.  Sunday might be a good day so far for me to complete my Corsair.

Gamera, you've been a good friend!  Thank you for everything!

I still need to prep the drop tanks and rockets.  But this is as far as I got as I'm still caring for Mrs. Toshi and her rehabilitation.  Everything is going good.  That's what life is all about!

Looking fine Toshi.

I hope Mrs. Toshi recovers completely and quickly so that both of you can enjoy each others company as you always have.

I'm considering getting the Tamiya 1D but it's out of my budget range .. at least for this month. I don't know if it's available yet but one can certainly pre-order it. Mmmmm. Please talk me out of buying it Wink.

You know I can't talk you out of buying the Tamiya Corsair.  lol!  But if you do get it, I'm going to be so jealous of you!  lol!  Thank you for being there for us, it's most greatly appreciate it!

Here is the completed Trumpeter Corsair.  Although not as accurate as the Tamiya 1/32 kit, the cost of the Trumpeter F4U-1D was half the price of it's competitor.

Fit and finish is superb and the build was extremely gratifying.  Adding the Big Ed Set is always a interesting addition.  And this kit efficiently utilized almost 75% of the PE.  The other 25% were so small with such complexed assembly procedures in that it was not only too small but not viewable as well.

Other than these minor issues, this kit was a blast in building it.  Decals went on without any fuss and it literally melded to the Corsairs surfaces.  I can strongly recommend this kit for the cost and efficient drafting design except that the cockpit was of a flat design and not a set up like a concave tube design.

Anyway, I patiently will await for the newest Tamiya Corsair and I will purchase that Tamiya kit when the price goes down.  Until then I want to thank everyone for their input and support!

Thank you Mopar Madness!  It did take more time than I anticipated in completing this F4U-1D Corsair.  But as you pointed out; "Effort well spent!"  And some effort it did take.

The folding wings was trying my patience as one wing broke off.  lol!  I was able to come up with a solution but not what I planned.  Overall, I am pleased with the final product.

I always have enjoyed the clear parts that show off parts of the aircraft.  Visible B-17G, SBD Dauntless, Me 262, to name a few that I've built.  For once, a modeler like myself is able to show their work off.

I'm glad you like the gloss finish as I wanted to depict this particular Corsair as a museum piece.  I have a majority of WWII and modern day aircrafts that are weathered so this was a nice addition to my build collection.

Thank you so very much Mopar Madness for your patronage and the read and replies you've so graciously given me over these past several years in that I've been a FSM Forum member here!

Thank you very much jeaton01, coming from you I am most honored and humbled.  Yes, it is glossy at best!  lol!

I wanted to depict a museum Corsair amoung the many weathered aircraft in that I have within my build collection.  I guess I wanted just something different.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to comment on my Trumpeter 1/32 Corsair build.  I am very thankful for your reply.

Here is a side by side display on my "Wall of Planes" of two very different Corsairs in time line and brand purchase.

Both are 1/32 except that the weathered Corsair is an original boxing of a Revell 1/32 Baa Baa Blacksheep TV version of "Pappy" Boyington's number 86 LucyBelle.  I purchased a sealed version for a very good price point from eBay and built it out of nostalgia.

And lastly, the newest addition Corsair to grace my "Wall of Planes", the Trumpeter 1/32 F4U-1D Corsair painted as if it was sitting in a museum for display "Static" purposes.

By the way, I want to thank everyone for your support in my builds.  This means so much to me and brings tears of joy to me and my heart!

Two more Corsairs were donated to the local Streetsboro, Ohio VFW.  These two Corsairs not depicted were featured in the Digital Readers Gallery.  They are as follows.

Hey Toshi, just got to see the finished pics.  You did a great job on this kit.  I like the idea of it being a museum piece as a change of pace.  You nailed it!  I am still jealous of your decal skills.  Yours always look flawless.

Sounds like Mrs. Toshi is improving, although the chemo can be rough depending on how she reacts to it.  Please send her my best wishes.
