Congrats on the anniversary! As usual, I'll be watching your build. I've learned a few new things from watching your work. Maybe some day I can take a trip across the big lake and get some 1 on 1 lessons. The wife won't fly and I can't swim, so I'll just have to wait until they build the tunnel or a bridge.Wink

I also remember looking at the diorama pamplet for hrs as a kid. i picked up the new boxing revell 1/48 b-17 and was happy to see there was the shep diorama booklet in the new boxing. but it seem not detailed as the original from 30 yrs ago. but that just might be time and memory. my new boxing of the revell p-61 also dose not have the dio pamplet.

Yes, I too was disappointed when I purchased the new Revell P-61 and there was no booklet in there.  What a bummer.

I built that kit as a kid. I can't remember how to the actual build came out but I obsessed over the Shep Paine diorama booklet. A few months ago, I rebought the original boxing of the kit off ebay for cheap mostly to get that booklet sort of out nostalgia more than anything.

I don't think I was seriously considering attempting to build it, at least not any time soon, but I'm excited to watch you do it, and maybe I'll get inspired.

Oh yes, the Shep Paine diorama booklet was so cool and ahead of it‘s time.  That’s interesting that you purchased the kit just for the booklet.  Now you have to build the kit!  lol!

Hey Toshi, glad to see you celebrating with another P-61 and also glad to see you posting pics direct.  It makes your build logs easier to follow.

Scott

I’m glad it turned out that way.  It brings me full circle to where I started.  Yes, the links was just not happening and it made my thread ugly.  At least with the photos, it adds color and excitement to the thread.  And yes, it definitely makes the WIP thread easier to follow, I completely agree.

Very cool find Toshi!

Hope you'll build another Corsair on your fifth modeling anniversary! Wink

Thank’s Gamera, it was actually Mrs. Toshi that found this little treasure after my P-61 fiasco.  I hope so too!  And it has to be a 1/32 Tamiya Corsair!  lol!

Toshi,

I'm following along as usual. You're an inspiration to me - a template for passion in this hobby!

RE: Lone Star Models ... As far as I know they were still in business when I bought a wing-fold conversion set from them back in March of this year.

Thank you sir, you’re too kind.  Ah, I thought I read somewhere in here that they closed shop, I guess not.  What are you building?

Toshi. I am very excited to follow this build with you. Your work is always fantastic, and it will be doubly good not having to click through on all those photo links Wink.

I think after I finish my current Corsair I'm going to jump in on the P61 as I've planned to do for a long time. Still wavering between the old white box monogram or the GWH kit. I will eagerly follow your progress which will hopefully help me make my decision.

Thank you for the kind words, I greatly appreciate it.  I too am glad in that there are no more links to my builds.  It just makes the thread look ugly.

Following your Corsair build, building a P-61 would be great!  I know that the GWH kit is light years away from the old Monogram but the nostalgia on the latter is too resisting!  lol!

I have the newer re-release of the P-61 with a resin cockpit set from Lone Star Models. My biggest concern with this kit is the canopy fit issue. There is an aftermarket clear resin kit for the canopy but it is pricey. I would love to see how yours come together.

BK

Is Lone Star Models still in business?  I thought they were defunct.  I noticed everyone is saying that the canopy will be an issue.  The last time, I fixed it with Testors Clear Glue.

I‘ve never heard of a clear resin skin before.  This intrigued me!  I’ll have to go online and see what this is about!

I have the Revell version of this kit, and I've heard horror stories about the canopy, is it just the old Monogram kit that has the problem or is it both?  Looking forward to watching you tackle this one!

Toshi - looking forward to this build.  I built this one as a kid and I want to see one that doesn't have fingerprints and glue marks all over it like mine did... regardless I loved it as a boy.  You're other builds have been so nice - looking forward to the results on this one!

I too keavdog am looking forward to this build, actually I’m excited to start this build.  I want to thank you for following all my WIP.  I’ll talk to you soon!

Thanks for the offer Toshi, but i do have plenty of AM for mine, just different brands. I have some EduardPE along with Quickboost resin for the engines, props and guns. I also have a set of metal undercarrage which looks interesting. All i need to get is some resin wheels.

But will deffinetly be looking forward to seeing how your resin comes out, always nice to see somthing new.

It is my pleasure to help a fellow forum member, always!!!  Get the weighted resin wheels.  I’ve read that they really work well.  I’d to like to see how my resin items come out!  lol!  This is the fourth or fifth time I messed with resin.  Thanks for following!

hi toshi grats on your 3 years. I have also followed many of your builds and I'm sure this kit will be just fine. do you plan on after market canopy ?.

I built 2 of these kits in the mid 70s as a kid and if I remember right I don't think the conopys fit well then. now I have the 2015 reissue with Edward cockpit set and the same after market landing gear and a set of resin wheels. I will be changing out all the gun barels not sure what els. I may try to rebuild the air intakes.

somthing different I have done this time is I have sanded down all the panel lines and rescribed them. I this while the kit is still on the tree and it's my first time. lol should be interesting. so this makes # 3 for me. o and if your interested theres a old made by the army movie on utube about there new persute plan from the 40s lots of cocpit info.

any how I will be following your build . have fun.

jerry

Hi blackdog62.  Thank you for the congratulatory three year remark. It’s been that long?  Don’t feel like that.  Thank you blackdog62 for always following my builds, I am ever so greatfull for your act of kindness.  I didn’t know they made a re-issue Eduard Cockpit set.  I’m going to have to look at that one.  You are a very ambitious modeler to re-scribe the entire Black Widow!  Good luck sir!  I’ll take a look at the You Tube video as well, thank you for the tip and the read and reply!
