Here’s what’s been done last night after my grandson Ezra fell asleep.  If he’s up, he likes to hang out with his papa in the Model den but it’s jus too dangerous for a one year old toddler to be at.

I’ve got all these tiny square bottles of Testors Enamel paints, and since I’m going to paint my B-17G in Model Master Enamel OD, I might as well use that majority of my Enamel paints for this build.  Mrs. Toshi said that she won’t mind the smell as much, especially the thinner smell.   So here is the start of my Revell 1/48 B-17G Flying Fortress build.

Toshi, this is a pretty decent kit for the B-17. This was the first model I built with my kids. Currently the largest model hanging from the basement ceiling. Mike

That is so cool in that you got to build this model with you children.  I have to wait till my grandson gets old enough, he’s only sixteen months old.  I agree that it’s a huge kit, I too will hang my completed kit as well.  Enjoy your time with your children.  I think it’s so cool.  What’s your next project with your children.  That you so much for sharing your story with us.

You have such a great wife, Toshi! While waiting for the Ki-61 to arrive, she bought you B-17 1:48 to keep you busy. I wonder whether you have any other kits in stock. Take your time and enjoy building the Flying Fortress.

Thank you for the wonderful and such kind words about Mrs. Toshi. I do my best to care for her needs and she reciprocated back.  I love her so very much.

As far as any other kits in stock/stash, I have none.  I will take my time on this kit as I’ll be very busy with my wonderful grandson and ferrying Mrs. Toshi to the Cleveland Seidman Cancer Center to get her Proton Radiation Treatment and back home.

When it’s time, we will both shave our heads together.  lol!  Thank you so much for the kind words in concern to Mrs. Toshi and I.  Also and a very much of a thank you for always following my threads!

This is a fun one to build. It was my first one getting back into the hobby since I built when I was a kid. I also built my chow hound in OD Green. Came out quite nice, the only thing I didn't do was paint the framing on the canopy, ball turret, but I still could if I dig it out. Yes, prepare to become one with the delux materials "perfect plastic putty" for the seam on the fuselage. I wish I knew of that stuff when I did mine, I swear I was sanding green squadron for a week straight..... sending prayers for Mrs. Toshi, recovery is 100% possible, just took my mom to her final chemo appointment yesterday for brea$t cancer, she had a single mastectomy, but is now cancer free at this time. God bless you both and keep on building!! I've been building a lot of cars and trucks lately, think I need to jump into another aircraft build.... -Rudy

edit: who knew "brea$t" was a "bad word"?

I agree, it is a very fun kit to build.  I’m looking forward in AB the B-17G in OD as I’ve never done one in OD.  I know I have a challenge ahead in the seams of this kit but that’s the interesting part of this build isn’t.

I want to thank you for your prayers.  I believe that Mrs. Toshi‘s recovery is 100% achievable as well as your mother is a shining example of this.  God bless you as well my friend, and I’m looking forward in an aircraft build from you.

Thank you all for your patience, Mrs. Toshi has three more Proton Radiation treatments left, out of a series of thirty three treatments.  It’s an hours drive and an hours drive back.  Treatments take fifteen minutes.  All the while my grandson Ezra is the real trooper here.

He gets up early, then calmly gets dressed while Mrs. Toshi packs a snack bag for him.  Once ready, we head out on our daily journey!  Once there there is a special toddlers room with toys for Ezra.  Once back, I try to prepare dinner while Mrs. Toshi rests.  Although Ezra has other plans.  lol!  After dinner, it’s a bath for Ezra and sleep time for him.  That’s when Mrs. Toshi and I can chill.

By this point, I’m too tired to look at any bench time so I try to save it after Proton Therapy is completed.  Once done, I’ll be caring for Mrs. Toshi and then I’ll have a routine to be able to acclimate my space again and include my B-17G WIP!

Hi Toshi!

I'm sure that Ki-61 had to have shown up by now. I'm anxious to hear of your initial impressions of the kit. After all, I did highly recommend it lol.

Mine still sits on the sidelines waiting for me to gather the courage to tackle the paint scheme lol.

God bless and keep you and yours during this holiday season my friend. Stay warm, stay safe, and may angels watch over the Mrs.

I still haven’t seen my kit.  I’m going to have to contact eBay about it.  You can be assured that upon it‘s arrival, a WIP will be done.  God bless you as well my friend!  You have a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year.  We will stay safe and warm, or at least try to.  lol!  Thank you M. Brindos for always watching my back, it means very much to me.

I have not received the Ki-61 yet.  I contacted Tokyo-Hobby via eBay and they were very nice enough to inform me that due to the holiday season, there will be a delay.  If it doesn’t arrive by the 25th (Christmas day) I’m to contact them and will receive a full refund.  I really enjoy doing business with them, they are very fair and professional.

At that juncture, I will order another Ki-61.  The B-17G will take awhile to complete so this should be perfect.  You too and your family will be sent prayers of health and prosperity.  I wish you a wonderful Christmas my very good friend!

Hope all is good and well with the wife Toshi.

Mrs. Toshi has completed her radiation therapy, it’s been a very difficult raod for us but we prevailed.  Currently, she feels fine with one exception; Fatigue.  But the doctor informed us that this should pass in a few months.  She also has loss all her hair so I’ve cut all my hair in solidarity with her.  We are now the bald Toshi family!  lol!  Ultimately, all is good with the Toshi’s.  I want to personally thank you from the bottom of my heart for your concerns for Mrs. Toshi, it’s very much appreciated!  I hope for great health and prosperity for yourself and your family.  Have a beautiful and wonderful Christmas!

Yes it is very much as you say; “A fun build especially in OD”.  The kits you described sounds very exciting and I hope you do a WIP as I’ll look forward to that and will, as always be a devoted follower of yours.  I wish you and your family the greatest health and prosperity.  And also a very merry Christmas!  Thank you crown r n7 for always following, read, and replying on my threads.  It’s greatly appreciated!

Just got caught up with the thread.  What a neat project.   I am now subscribed.  Happy to hear that your wife is on the downhill side of things.  Everything else takes a back seat till our special people are feeling better.  I hope that the two of you can get back to doing what you enjoy real soon.  Best regards.

Just keep picking away at it...
