Seydlitz came out last year from Hobby Boss or Trumpeter.

ICM makes some Konig class battleships.   

I would like to see HMS Iron Duke or HMS Lion.

How about a decent 1/48 scale B-45? The 1/72nd scale Mach 2 kit is sorely lacking.

How about a 1/32 scale RF-101C?  That would be sweet, and would probably sell well.  It's a well enough known subject but underrepresented in plastic modeling.  I'd love to have one to put next to the 32 scale RF-4.  Even a good 1/48 scale kit would be great, as I hear the Kitty Hawk kit is a real bear to put together. 

The F-4D Skyray in 1/32 would be cool too.

Don't see it mentioned anywhere, but a larger scale OV-1 Mohawk would be a MASSIVE opportunity for show-stopping cockpit mods, and more.  Did anyone ever make an OV-1 in any scale?  I do not recall ever seeing one.  I'm a fan of the O-birds, and now that we have a decent OV-10, a 1/32 scale Mohawk would pair up nicely.

I didn't run my stopwatch, but I think one of those stretch 8's out of Travis AFB gave me the longest take-off roll of my life  when I was traveling to the SEA War Games, 2nd Place Finish. I think it was actually around 45 seconds. (Although as I say when asked about the outcome: "I don't know what happened, we were still winning when I left.")

I actually rather liked the Huma kit. Had to through in some AM for the pit, but i thought it built up nicley for a Huma kit. But ye, a new one would be welcome. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw one at some point.

Bish - Yeah the Huma Triebflugel was the first limited run kit I built, and it was shockingly bad!  But it was the start of my Luftwaffe 1946 craze, before it became mainstream.  But I want a new, modern Triebflugel for the masses to enjoy!  Amusing Hobby announced a new 1/48 injection kit this year, but I want one in the "official" Luft 1946 scale.  

GMorrison, I have a number of Mach Poo kits, and I do not wish to add another!  I'd like someone else to do kits in their catalog, to a modern standard.  A lot of subjects I want are in their range, but in all the years in existence they have not really improved. You are brave and quite skilled to finish a Mach Poo kit!

Mach 2 made a pretty decent A2D. In fact it's one of their better kits.

If you can find one it's worth building.

Real, Huma did a 1/72nd Triebflugel. If you can get hold of one, its not to bad a kit. Would be nice to see some one like Special Hobby or RS do one though.

Stuff I'd like to see will probably not sell well, like the Fw Triebflugel, Convair Sea Dart, the M2F2/X-24A&B, the LeDuc ramjets, Nord Griffon II, Snecma C.450, Douglas Skyshark, XB-46/48/51, Hughes XF-11, Vultee XP-54, McDonnel XP-67, Saunders-Roe SRA.1, BAC-221, Bristol T.188, Republic XF-103,  Rockwell XFV-12A, RB-57F, and those wacky tilt rotors like the X-22, XC-124, and XV-15, all in 1/72.  These look like candidates for MPM or Meng.

Stuff I think might sell include P-82 Twin Mustang, B-26 Marauder, A-26K Counter Invader, Canberra/B-57 series, Saab Viggen, SR-71 series, U-2 series, all in 1/48.  The CA Canberra is hard to build.  I have one on the SOD and the Airfix one, while easy to build, is Bantha podu.  We could do better than the Tarangus Viggen, and Modelcraft's P-82s, well the less said the better.  The Monogram B-26, Italeri Blackbirds, and Hawk/Italeri U-2s are past their "sell by" dates.  Oh and a 1/72 Vulcan.  Giddiyap Airfix, Trumpeter is up to something here!

Although not on my wish list, we do need modern 1/48 kits of the Kingfisher and B-17.  Plus Hasegawa should revisit their large 1/72 kits like the B-47, P-3 Orion, P2V Neptune, and Marlin, Mavis and Shinmeiwa flying boats with new tools.  Oh yeah, and where is the modern 1/35 kit of the AH-1G Vietnam-era Cobra?  I thought that a strange omission, considering it was the first of the purpose designed gunship helicopters to go into action.

Second on the 707, was a great bird that ushered in the passenger jet age.  Granddaddy to everything today.

A pretty nice looking fighter plane. I know Planet Models had a resin kit of this airplane years ago. From what I've seen online, if you can find the old Planet kit, it'll cost you close to $90.00. If you can actually find one.

Geez, I just thought of another good example for 1/48 scale: the North American, and later Ryan, Navion! NAA had hoped the Navion would capture nearly the same excitement of the P-51. So many paint schemes to choose from, military and civilian.

Well I have built some in paper and with the engines showing  and doors open , and everyone wants to know what they are .I would also like really good De Havilland Beavers and Otters in both twin and single in 1/48 . Darned good planes those . 

 Now here's some modern ones I would like to see .How about a Dassault Aviation Falcon 10 and 20 in 1/48 scale . Fed Ex started with those as their first jets . Besides a salute to a plane that engineering wise is a work of art  . Lears just don't cut it for me .

Back in the late 50s or early 60s Revell did a 1/48th scale F-102 with a lot of moving parts and features, e.g. engine. I would like to see this kit retooled and reproduced again. that goes for the Aurora X-13 kit as well. Anyone know if those molds still exsist?

The Revell H-282 F-102A kit molds are lost.  I have one in the stash and also the reissue without the ground equipment.  It is 1/49 scale.  I wish the ground equipment set with it were available again, but I would use it with the current F-102 or any other Century Series airplane.  As I did with the F-101B.

I don't know about the X-13 but I'd like to have one to build along with the original kit I have in the stash.

I was going through Route62's mega-stash earlier today. Last month I got a 1/48 scale B-24D from him and today I was looking at the Revell 1/48 scale B-17F Memphis Belle kit. I might bring that kit home later, maybe next month. It occurred to me, after the fiasco of trying to build a B-17D in 1/72 scale, that a B-17B/C/D kit in 1/48 scale might be a good deal. With my nubby fingers and old eyes, a 1/48 scale version of these early B-17's would be a lot easier to build than the smaller 1/72 scale.

I'm goin' in - I'll say a 1/48 B52 and Peacemaker.  Need to build a bigger house !!!

Mach 2 does a 72nd kit. Saw one built up a few weeks back, it is a biggy. Would be nice if a more mainstream company did one.

Never paid attention, but I think maybe 1/48 from what I remember of the size of the box.  Haven't seen it for around 8-10 years

The Me p1011 never left prototype stage. They didn't solve the wing root problem.

As far as retooling a kit, I've always thought that there are a lot of kits out there that only need some modification and if instead of a resin set a single sprue set of replacement parts could be produced to be shipped with and/or sold aftermarket to modify the existing kit.

The first that comes to mind is the 1/72 scale B-52D kit. A single sprue with a bomb bay, bombs, and a few other detail parts would be nice.

I'll second the B-47, multiple variants, in 1/48 and 1/72.  Also F-111 in all variants A-G, plus the Sparvark and FB-111.  1/48 and 1/72

Ditto the Ford Tri-motor in 1/32nd scale. I got to fly in one when they were doing the Lake Erie Islands and it was an experience. I would also like to see a nice Bell X-5 in 1/48th or 1/32nd scale. This was developed from the Messerschmit P1011 if I recall correctly. It is the first "swing-wing" (variable geometry)aircraft that I know of.

Another civilian aircraft that would make a nice model would be the Cessna 310,circa 1950's.  It's a low wing, light twin, with wingtip fuel tanks.

After flying on EAA's Ford yesterday (see my thread up in the Ready Room), I'd like to see a good 1/48 scale Ford Trimotor with a number of options for markings. I know Monogram offers the Ford in 1/72 scale, but that's just too small for my old eyes and nubby fingertips.

A 48th scale F-86E Sabre / Canadair Sabre 2 with the "V" shaped front windscreen and wing flaps.  A 32nd scale of this icon, with similar options, would be nice too.

I second the vote for a good 1/48th scale Twin Mustang. I would also like to see a 1/48th scale A-10 that is worthy of the planes popularity. Four 1/48th A-10's on the market, and none of them make an accurate hog out of the box. 

Would also like to see more 1/48th scale pilot figures for the cockpit.

Oddly enough I came across two of these in 1/72 the other day that were very old, Frog kits I believe, at a local IPMS meeting and then down at Value Village. The Aero Commander and the B-26. They were pretty rough though. Something that could definately use some new tooling that's for sure. The Aero was snagged before I got my hands on it and the B-26 was incomplete.

I also picked up a few old gems to one day build. Few dollars a kit.

Got one for you.  I've been trying to cobble/kitbash an overlooked bird that is proving to be a real bear and I much would prefer a kit out of the box vice all the puttying and cursing.

The Boeing clipper is available from Minicraft.  A so-so kit but it can be built into a decent model.  I sure second the Jenny!  Only kits I know of now are 1:72 and Lindberg's sorta Jenny in 1:48.  A 1:32 version (if it is accurate) would be great!

I don't think they will wait that long. The new Victor K.2 due out in June includes markings for Black Buck, they already have the new tooled Sea Harrier and Harrier GR.3 which already have sutable markings so would be easy re-releases. The 40th anniversary is just begging for a new tooled Vulcan.

Yeah, that would be cool to see as a whiffer in USN yellow wings markings.  Interesting story behind that one, but ultimately a design that was obsolete on the drawing board.

So many civilian airplanes of decades ago are being forgotten today, they contributed so much to modern aviation development, it would be great to have models of them now.

Hi everyone, I'm wondering what's on your aircraft never been made or out of production wishlist?

I'm starting an injection molding business and am just about ready to do an inital run of my first aircraft, a Pietenpol Air Camper. I'll post up details on where to get it when it's available.
I'm looking at what I can do next and am looking for something that either hasn't been done before or something that is no longer available that could use a new modern production kit. So I figured what better place to find out than here. Bring what everyone wants to life.

Leave a reply and let me know what's your must have kits that either aren't made or aren't in production/hard to find/old bad kits and I'll add it to the list.
If one seems doable and gets a lot of comments asking for it I'll make a design for it and it'll go off to be milled and molded.

Yakolev Yak-28P  this bomber design turned into an interceptor is just plain ugly. That's why I want it. Existing kits are poorly reviewed.

It would be kind of nice to see a model of the Convair Charger COIN aircraft, but since it was only a prototype it might not be on the top of anyones list to make a kit of it.

I'll echo the 1/48 B-26 Marauder. Staying on the US medium bomber theme, a new tool Douglas A-20 in 1/48.

Others, B-32 Dominator in 1/48, Mitsubishi G3M "Nell" in 1/48, and a Messerschmitt Me264 in 1/48.

I'm mainly focusing on aircraft for now, maybe expand to cars and other items in the future but for now the goal is specializing in aircraft.

Ran across an article on the Vicker's 161 last night.  Was a '30's bi-plane, mid engine pusher, with an upward (at 45*) firing 37mm cannon.  Was to be a bomber inteceptor. Only one built before the project was done in.

I totally agree. I would do Bob Hoover's Aero Commander in 1/48 scale. Just make sure it comes with the liitle glass of water on top of the insterment panel 

One other suggestion to go along with the earlier Pan-Am flying boat is the classic 314 Clipper.

With all the cool heavy bombers coming out now in 1/32, I wish someone would do a new tool B-17 and B-24 in a more manageable scale. Tamiya 1/48 B-17!!!

I'm actually working on the old Mongram 1/48 P-61 right now. The fit is less than desireable, so I totally agree that a really good version of that would be good to have out there.
The mold maker I have has assured me that the quality will be excellent. I explained that I need to be able to see subtle fabric detail at 1/48 scale and they have assured me that it is possible, so fingers crossed we can bring some new modern tooled kits to market.

I'm loving all of these suggestions so far!

The Pietenpol will be 1/32 scale and include 3 engine versions, 3 wheel versions, 2 landing gear configurations and the single and 3 piece wings along with the optional folding centre section and cut-out centre sections as well. It should be available mid to late summer.

And yeah, wouldn't mind seeing a new 1/48th B-26 either. The Monogram kit isn't bad but neither was their P-61 and I picked up the Great Wall P-61 for Christmas and it blows the older kit away. A new technology Marauder could be amazing. 

Same with a P-38, crazy to me that there are four kits in 1/48th and they're all fair to middling in quality. I really wish someone like Tamiya would do a new tech kit. 

Many years ago, I had a small model (1/72?) of a Rockwell Aero Commander, circa 1960, a civilian light twin that I took many business trips on, which my employer owned.  Took my earliest informal flight lessons in it, too.  I have always had a soft spot for that airplane, and would love to have a 1/48 or 1/32 model. However, there would probably not be much of a demand for that model....

Colin: Just curious but what scale is your Pietenpol Air Camper going to be in? I'd never heard of it and had to go look it up. I've always thought building your own aircraft to be a pretty cool idea- sorta a 1/1 scale aircraft kit. And she's a neat looking plane. Looking forward to more details on your work! 

I'd list something but everything I can think of is so strange, off-the-wall, or impractical that it'd be a bear to produce and only sell poorly. 

For example: 

The Nakajima G10N Fugaku, a giant aircraft designed to take off from Japan, cruise over the Pacific, overfly the US and Canada bombing any target desired, cross the Atlantic, and then land to refuel and rearm in Germany. Fujimi has a nice kit in 1/144th but I wish someone made one in 1/72nd to go with the rest of my big bombers. 

There is a very nice Staggerwing by Roden in 1:48.  I think a good 1:32 would be a good seller.  There is a 1:32 L-19 which could probably be built as a civil plane.  The Cessna that is really needed is the 190/95, and 1:32 would indeed be a great scale for that.  The latest (new mold) 1:48 kits from Minicraft are very nice, 150 and 172, though they are tail heavy and require a lot of nose weight to sit on nose gear.

I'd love to see a new tooling of a 1/72 B52 bomber. Revell and Academy both had kits in the past but neither one was a really great kit. It's a pipe dream but it's what I'd like to see. Even a 1/72 B1 Bomber would be great to see retooled.

I also usually build 1/48 scale. I realize there's a 1/72 kit that was (is?) available but I'd love to see a 1/48 Consolidated TBY-2.

I have not seen that but but have seen anotehr one, i am thinking thats the way i will have to go. The surgery is simple enough, its cut straight along the kink in the wing. Its just adding the detail for the wing fold.

I work in 1/48 scale, so my list would be Bristol/DAP Beaufort, Martin Baltimore (a good one!), Vultee Vengeance, AW Albemarle, and how about a Curtis Commando?

Nice list, I know there has been a 1/48 Cornell, the Canadian RCAF version of the PT-19. Not sure how available it is, but I'm sure a new kit would be nice. There is a flying example at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum so it'd be fun to do variants in US and RCAF markings. PT-22 would be neat as well. I like the trainers idea.

Because of space limitations, I do mostly 1/48 scale single engine fighters. So far the only deviation from that has been the 1/72 scale Monogram F/P-82 Twin Mustang. I'd really like to see a decent early Twin Mustang in 1/48 scale. And since my dad was an AAC flight instructor, I'd like to see more trainers in 1/48 scale. Yeah, there are the Revell PT-17 Stearman and the Monogram T-6 in 1/48 scale, but what about the PT-19, the BT-13/15 and a Kinner powered PT-22. So there ya go. That's what I'd like to see if'n I had my druthers.

I would love to see a really nice and accurate 1/144 757-200.  The Minicraft kit just isnt any good.

Great suggestions, I too like the staggerwing and Cessna's idea.

A Phantom in 1/24 would be impressive for sure! I built a 1/24 Spitfire years ago and that was big enough. A 1/24 F4 would be a show stopper!

Only 1 for me. 1/72nd Ju 87C.

Would love to see a Beech Stagerwing in either 1/32 or 1/24, but don't know how much call there would be.  Also Cessnas is 1/32, either singles or twins.

A 1/24 Phantom would be a beauty, either F-4E or RF-4C.  Lot of potential for super detailing, but would be a monster consideringthe 1/32's out are around 24" overall length.
