Tamiya 1/48 P-51B Mustang
Posted by fxsti03-42 on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 7:14 AM

Since I couldn't start my OV-10 due to parts issues, I started the P-51B Mustang.

This seems an easy build, so far.  I bought the interior detail set, the masks and exhaust from Quickboost.

These Tamiya P-51 kits are not difficult at all. I have more Tamiya Mustangs on my shelf, both P-51B/C and P-51D/K, than I can count, just because they are simple to build.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

I just finished that kit.  Easy build.

Thanks,

It bulds into a nice kit; but so does the Revell offering.

Question for those that know.  What is the antenna configuration for the P-51B?  I've seen at least 4 different options.  Help!

It depends on the radio installation, different antenna configurations are possible.  As usual to be totally accurate you have to go to photos because the same airplane might have different radio fits at different times.  I would say I have never seen that depicted in the first photo.

Here are some links to a page on my website showing P-51 antenna fits.

I guess I should have looked at the box art before asking this question.  Laugh...

Mike,

A bit late, but here's a thread discussing radios and antennas.

https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/p51-d-antenna-wire.18345/page-2

When building the Revell 1/32nd P-51, I ran into this question about antenna wires.  I had no indication of one on my particular subject, so I left it off.  Just a reference for future builds.  Smile
